PROJECT MANAGEMETN STANDADIZATION
Introduction
Project management is the process for the managing of the project. The project
management is the process that includes the necessary stages for the compilation of the project.
However, there are certain risks associated with the project. In order to mitigate the risks
associated with the project certain steps can be taken into order (Snyder, Cynthia and Cynthia
2017). These steps are defined through the standardization applicable for the management of the
project. The standards regarding the projects ensures the quality of the project outcome along
with that it ensures that the project is meeting all the requirements (Richter 2015) . there are
various standards for the management of the IT projects. The main objective of this paper is to
discuss about the different IT standardization applicable for the management of the project.
Discussion
There are certain standardization of the IT project management. Different standards are
concerned with the different approaches (Varajão et al. 2015). However, the main structure of
the project management methodology is maintained in each of the processes. Generally , there
are five stages of the project management. The project management starts with the initialization
phase, this phase is followed by the planning, execution and controlling and monitoring of the
project. The project closes with the closing phase.
Available project management certifications:
Some of the effective project management certifications are-
Capability Maturity Model
GAPPS

V-Model
IAPPM.
In order to evaluate the best project management standardization , the functions of the
standardization are needed to be known.
Capability maturity model: Capability Maturity Model is developed by the Software
Engineering Institution.
GAPPS: Global Alliance for Project Performance Standards is also interpreted as
GAPPS. It is an open source standard which measures the competencies for the
program and the project management.
A guide to the Project Management body of Knowledge: This standard is developed
by the Project Management Institution (PMI). The PMBoK is contains the
management process and the stages involved in the process in details. The
management plan and the other factors like the significance of the system thinking
and system engineering is also involved in this project.
The ISO standards ISO 9000: It contains the bunch of standards for the management
of the quality. The series of the standardization in this series assures the quality
management of the project and assures the quality of the project or the product
outcome.

PROJECT MANAGEMETN STANDADIZATION
PRINCE2: It is called the Project In Controlled Environments (Eastham et al. 2014).
The PRINCE2 has the seven steps those are needed to be followed for the
compilation of the project.
Team Software Process: It is developed by the Software Engineering Institution.
V Model: This is an original system development process where the each step of the
project management is followed. The five phases of the project management is
followed in a consecutive way in this process.
IAPPM: IAPPM refers the International Association of Project and program
Management which delivers the guideline for the auditing and the troubleshooting of
the projects.
Choosing the bets project management standardization for the management of the project
related to the IT:
Considering almost all the project management standards , it can be said that the A
Guide to the Project management Body of Knowledge is best option as the standardization for
the development of the IT project management. The main reason for choosing the PMBoK as the
appropriate standard used for the quality management of the project is that, this standard is
concerned about the choosing of the right methodologies and the other factors related to the
management of the project. According to the PMBoK the selection of the project management
methodology is dependent on the requirement of the project. The project management
methodology has the five parts in the project management life cycle. The first stage is the
initialization of the project (Brioso 2015). This phase includes the gathering of the requirements
of the project(Xueb et al. 2017). The clarity in the requirement gathering phase helps to reduce
the scope creep of the project management (Rosa et al. 2016). The next step is the planning the

blueprint of the project based on the requirements and the execution id followed by the planning
phase. After the implementation and the execution of the project, the performance of the project
is evaluated through the constant monitoring and controlling (Karaman, Ersin and Murat 2015).
Certain modifications can be done in case the project is not delivering g the right requirements
and the outcome. The closing of the project denotes the ending of the project. These five well
defined stages in the PMBoK helps the projects to deliver the right outcome. Apart from the
importance of the system thinking in the decision making in the process along with that the
elimination of the scope creep is also defied in this standard.
Significance of the project management certification with respect to the time and the cost:
This standard of the project management is concerned about the management of the cost.
The cost related to the development of the project has been categorized in three parts according
to this standard. These are known as the three perception of the cost.
Commitments- concern of the project manager:
Expenses- The concern of the accountant and
Cash flow- the concern of the comptroller.
This standard is also concerned with the management of the time. The time management
ensures that the compilation of the project will be done in right time. The time management is
considered as the crucial aspect of the project management the whole process is divided into the
following parts-
Definition of the activities
Sequencing of the activities.

Estimation of the resource regarding the activity.
Estimation of the duration of the activities
Developing the schedule for the different activities.
Controlling the schedule.
The accurate process of managing the time and the cost of the project helps to deliver the
projects in time along with maintaining the quality of the project.
The value of the standardization:
The standardization will be beneficial if only it has its value in the market and is accepted
by the other entities in the business fields. The PMBoK is valuable as it allows the
standardization practice in the organization to spread through all the departments. It helps the
managers of the projects to make the standardization of the system. The PMBoK practice can
obtain PMP certification which is widely acceptable in the business market as the good practice
of the business.
Conclusion
It can be concluded form the discussion that the there are different project standardization
for providing the certification of the project management. However, the application of the
PMBok is the best option for the standardization of the IT projects management as it specifies
management of the all factors related to the IT project management.
