TASK 2 – CRITICAL ANALYSIS QUESTIONS (SINGLE SPACED, CALIBRI FONT, SIZE 12):
1. What are the main issues and trade-offs that must be considered by the
Project Manager in order to deliver a successful project?
Trade-offs such as cost, time, scope, risk, and quality are important
considerations for the success of a project. For a project manager, there must be
room to accommodate project trade-offs (An, Qiang, Wen, Jiang, & Xia, 2018).
Usually, there are two sides to a compromise, the positive side. For instance, a client
wants the duration of project shortened. Then the negative side where, for example,
the project manager would need to hire more engineer if they are to reduce the
project time (Billows, 2015).
2. Who are the main stakeholders in this project and what are their
responsibilities? Tip: Use a RACI
3. Based on your findings from Task 1, will the project be completed on time
in accordance to the client’s requirements? Support your answer.
The project will be completed on time according to the timeline I developed in
task one. After carrying out task one which was about building the timelines for all
tasks, only wood treatment and installation at the Lobby would extend beyond the
14th of December 2019. The task would run until the 23rd of December 2019. All the
other tasks seem to fit well in the timeline, although most of them have only taken
the least amount of time available. In the case of uncertainties in any one of the
tasks, then the project will face some delays in its completion.
4. What are the most notorious implementation challenges/problems and
how can these be resolved to ensure the client’s expectations are met? Be
concise and specific in your answer.

The occurrence of challenges when doing a project is inevitable. For instance,
the concrete, which is a part of a considerable amount of tasks in this project
relies on the weather as it is done outside. In case of adverse weather conditions,
many tasks using or depending on concrete will be affected.
There is also the question of outsourcing, the subcontractors especially the
external ones. External personnel maybe late in reporting or take more time than
expected to complete their assigned tasks (Billows, 2017).
The other challenge is defects in the raw materials that are to be used in the
project. By this I mean, for instance, you find broken glass or door panel when
you are supposed to work on them, and you are forced to re-order these items
(Silvius & de Graaf, 2019).
In order to deliver this project on the 14th of December 2019, the project
manager can consider doing the following:
(i) Hire more subcontractors where several tasks can be done
simultaneously.
(ii) Offer incentives and rewards to the employees to motivate them to
work extra hard to meet the deadlines.
(iii) Request the employees to work extra time and on weekends until the
project is complete.
(iv) Make sure that all the items that are being ordered are well checked
for defects at the stores before they are taken to respective areas
where they are needed.
