1. (a) Project managers are considered as one of the effective members of every project
managers. Hence the responsibility of the project managers is to ensure that proper leadership
qualities are being implemented among the members so that the project can be executed
successfully. Effective project manager should possess certain qualities that can enhance the
performance of a project. Each project manager should be responsible enough so that they can
motivate the employees so that project can be delivered successfully1. This ensures that the tasks
will be managed properly and all the requirements are fulfilled successfully.
The project manager is the one who is responsible for designing the blue print of the
project and ensures that all phases are executed successfully within the project. The project
schedule and budget is also designed by the project manager after discussing with the team
members and with the customers. It is essential to identify the key requirements at the early stage
so that the project can be delivered properly within the discussed time. For an effective leader it
becomes essential to ensure that proper communication is carried out between the team members
and leaders so that each aspects can be made clear towards the team members2. The leadership
style varies from project to project and also depends on the behavior of the project manager.
Thus it becomes essential for every project manager to ensure that they adapt their leadership
style based on the needs of the project and the customers. The qualities that are essential for
being an effective leader are described below:

 The project manager should be able to make good decisions.
 Project manager should have clear knowledge about their field and should have proper
technical knowledge.
 The project manager should have good negotiation skills.
 Effective competence should be maintained so that it becomes easy to gain better
knowledge.
 Before starting a project there is a need to ensure that the project manager has prepared
the budgets successfully so that the project can be executed within the time frame.
 The project manager should have the potential to solve the problems
 The manager needs to have proper skills that will engage the employees together
A project manager is basically identified as an efficient leader based on certain leadership
styles that are listed below:
 Democratic leadership
 Autocratic leadership
 Strategic leadership
 Transformational leadership
 Transactional leadership
 Coach style leadership
 Bureaucratic leadership
