Business Case
The business case of AFC is based on incorporating an advanced
technology in the forest operations. The forest sector is focused on applications
development for capturing and disseminating of data focus on the business
operations. Investment of AFC in the technology lead to increase in business
productivity, lower the operational cost as well as improve over their harvesting
equipment quality. By means of the technology and application development,
the company is being positioned in the forest sector to make a market
alternations as well as better growth (Kerzner, 2017). A roadmap is provided which
helps to identify the strategic project objectives, define functional requirements
of the app and measure the project cost with a realistic timeline.
Background
Australia Forestry Corporation (AFC) is always making changes in their
business so that the forest sector can maintain a competitive advantage in the
market. The company is operated in New South Wales as well as Queensland.
The main business operations of the company is growing along with selling of
tress. Most of the revenue of the company is gained from the domestic markets
for customer’s products but recently the company is engaged in the international
market.
The project goal is to provide roadmap for the technology trails,
deployment and operations to capture the data. The management of the forest
department is incorporated technology for streaming their business operations
as well as saving the cost.
The objective of the project is to use drones for inspect spraying as well as
management of inventory of harvest equipment in the forest. Apart from that, an
application is used for better capturing of data and information through the
company and providing open suggestions which will help in adapting competitive
position. Within 2 years, the request for this advanced technology project will be

operational. The allocated project for scope of work is 75K while the entire
budget for technology deployment is 5-million dollar.
