INTRODUCTION
Project management plays a major is successfully carrying a project and to achieve the
goals and objectives in proper manner. It is seen that there are certain stages that the project
manager is able to carry on the work effectively. There is following all the stages in such a
manner that the project is completed successfully (San Cristóbal and et.al., 2018). This project is
based on developing new University Library. The University of Bedfordshire is planning to re-
generate their Luton campus. The use of proper network diagram and critical path helps to
deliver the project in effective manner. There is need of using all the tools and techniques of
project management in effective manner so that success can be attained. In this report the
important activities to develop the library are mentioned. At the same time there is need of
understanding the role of project manager in delivering the project in effective manner. It helps
to deliver the project in appropriate manner by managing the overall work. Afterwards, there is
discussion related to building new team as it helps to carry on the work in proper manner. In the
end, there is evaluation related to the lessons that are learnt by carrying the project.
MAIN BODY
Project Time Management
Time management plays a critical role in carrying the project and attain the objectives on
right time. There is need of listing all the important activities that must be carried in order to
attain successful position in the market. It is necessary for an individual to divide the overall
work of constructing the library in small part so that they are able to carry each and every
activity in effective manner (Stanitsas, Kirytopoulos and Leopoulos, 2021). The plan is to
develop a 7400 square meter library. They are planning to provide 24/7 academic facilities to the
students for their development. The project has huge scope.

Work break down structure
It is graphical representation of overall activities that are managed together to achieve the
overall success. It is necessary to divide the overall work in small activities so that all the
activities are completed. To develop the library the work, break down structure is formulated
below:
All these activities play a critical role in achieving successful position in the market. It is
necessary to first of all carry on the preliminary stage in which the work is managed. There is
need of carrying the budget analysis and taking necessary approval in order to manage the work.
There is need of then making right plans and designs so that successful work is done. There is
need of dividing the work in project management so that proper success is attained (Chawla and
et.al., 2018). There is need of executing the project in appropriate manner as per the
requirements. The use of right project management strategy is necessary to attain successful
position. Along with that there is key role of controlling as it helps to know about the difference
in standard outcome and desired outcome. The use of right strategy will make the project
successful. After all the necessary activities the project is being closed and audit is done

managing the work in such a manner that all the activities are given right time to be completed. It
becomes necessary to have a sequence in which the work is managed (Hair and Sarstedt, 2021).
Critical path analysis
It is the path is the algorithm in which the project activities can be carried out. It becomes
necessary to select the best path so that the activities can be carried in appropriate manner. There
is need of managing the work in such a manner the real success can be attained in least possible
time. Finishing the activity in appropriate time is necessary. There is need of carrying the work

in such a manner that the goals and objective are attained. The use of critical path is necessary
for the project team.
There is need of managing the work by dividing the same among the team members. By
dilevering the work to the team membets and explaining them the team responsibiliy they will be
able to achieve a successful position. There is need of proper coordination among the team
members so that they are able to work with full dedication and support (Picciotto, 2020). The use
of such skills and knowledge is required by the team members. All the specialist are being hired
so that the work camn be divided among them and completred in proer manner. There is need of
having project manager who can delegate the work as per the project requirement.
Resource allocation and acquisition management including resource loading and resource
levelling
Resource loading provides information regarding period-to-period constraints on resources
over the project duration. It helps to improvise the utilisation of resource at the time of reducing
the total cost of the project. It is necessary to use all the resources in effective manner so that the
work is carried in effective manner (Tereso and et.al., 2019). There is need of optimum
utilisation of resources and providing best to the project stakeholders. All the required resource
must be mapped so that they are available at the time of requirement. It is necessary to manage
the work in such a manner that real success can be attained. The use of such resources makes the
project successful. There is need of carrying the work with resource loading and levelling to
formulate the library in right budget and time.
Discussing on project roles and the role of project manager in delivering a successful
project
Project manager helps the organisation to execute various plans effectively. The main
focus is to help the company achieve its goals and objectives in an effective manner. Various
roles in project are as follows
 Principal Consulting services – A principal consultant is the senior offices which works
with the top management and provides them essential guidance. It is required to achieve
the goals and objectives in an effective manner (Larsson and Larsson, 2020). With the
changing market trends there are various expertise services which helps the company to
gain a competitive advantage in the market.

 Developer – In order to develop successful project, the developer works with the client
and maintain relationship with them. There are various technical resources which is needs
to carry out the plan effectively (Chen and et.al., 2019). The utmost responsibility of the
developer is to provide the technical resources which is essential to make a project
successful.
 Consultant – The main role of the consultant is to give the right advice through which
the management can make effective decisions. To achieve the goals and objects the
management requires a professional guidance and it can be only fulfilled by the
consultant.
 Project Manager – Every decision is passed through the project manager. The main
responsibility of the project manager is to execute the planning effectively to achieve the
inherent goals and objectives (Wu and et.al., 2021). With the help of various leadership
theories and approaches the project can maximize the productivity of the workplace.
There are various tools which include Gantt charts, project baseline to deliver the project
successfully to the management.
 Trainer – The trainer develops a cordial relationship with the project manager in order to
achieve the goals and objectives which is set by the management. With the changing
dynamic trends, they are various technological advancements to achieve the goal at a
rapid pace. The main responsibility of the trainer is to deliver the technical resources on
the site and provide right training to various candidates.
 Health and Safety personnel – There are various critical aspects which needs to be
reviewed properly. The health and safety personnel ensures that everything is done
according to the statutory rules and regulations (Svejvig, 2021). They also minimize the
risk of injuries, accidents and work related illness in the workplace. The main work
responsibility is to maintain the high quality standards in the organisation.
 Strategic accounts director – There are various documentation and accounts of the
clients which needs to be handled properly. Strategic accounts director ensures that all the
company objectives are achieved effectively. They also had to manage the accounts of
various clients and understand all the procurement and purchasing needs.

Role of project manager to execute the project successfully
Project manager helps the organisation to achieve the goals in an effective manner. The
main focus is to help the company to achieve an overall growth in the desired industry. There are
various roles of the project manager which is described below:
 Planning the objectives – The main work responsibility of the project manager is to
archive various objectives by making an effective plan. There are various critical factors
which needs to be assessed properly (Ika and et.al., 2020). In relation to university of
Bedfordshire the project manager has evaluated different critical details of the plan to
make the library in the campus. With the help of right approaches, the manger has
formulated a plan in a structured manner.
 Managing stakeholders effectively – This is one of the main work responsibility of the
project manager. The stakeholders have a significant influence in the workplace. There
are various suggestions which they can pass to achieve the goal more effectively.
University of Bedfordshire project manager has developed a cordial relationship with the
stakeholders. The stakeholders and the project are working in the coordinated way with
the same vision to make the college campus better. This library project will potentially
improve the infrastructure of the workplace.
 Providing expert Judgement – The project manager needs to develop various skills to
execute the project in s systematic manner. The project manager of the university has
developed effective skills like communication, decision making to achieve the goals
which is set by the college management (Puška and et.al., 2020). These key skills help
the manager to perform the duties in a better way.
 Motivating the members – The main work responsibility of the project manager is to
motivate the workforce. They can use various methods and strategies to improvise the
productivity of the workplace. This helps them to carry out the operations systematically.
University of Bedfordshire project manager motivates the workforce by providing them
various opportunities to achieve an efficient growth in the future (Aanbari and Kwak,
2018). There are various methods like promotion and recognition. It helps the employees
to become more productive.
 Minimising the Wastage – There are various variations which could be used by the
project manager to minimize the waste. The main focus of the project is to optimize the

resources in a better way to achieve the overall objective in a systematic way. University
of Bedfordshire project manager is making an effective schedule to measure the inputs
and outputs of the resources. This helps them to plan the operations in a better way. On
the other hand, the wastage can be minimised and the manager is utilising the resources
in a appropriate manner.
 Meeting quality requirements – The project manager needs to work effectively in order

Tuckman model is a strategic framework which helps the individual to form a better team
to achieve the goals and objectives in an effective manner. There are five stages in this model
which is described below:
 Forming – This is the first and foremost stage in which the task is allocated to various
individuals. The project manager divides the wok on the basis of the sills and right

The workforce is working with the same vision to make the infrastructure better of the
college campus.
 Storming – This is the stage where every individuals is putting their efforts in order to
achieve the goals. There are various ideas which the candidates can pass on and due to

strategies to allocate the work in an effective way (Farashah, Thomas and Blomquist,
2019). The manager listens the idea of various individuals and help them to overcome

 Norming – This is the stage where every individual in the workplace tends to settle down
to achieve the main vision which is set by management. They facilitate to work together
in a uniformed way. In relation to the university of Bedfordshire the project manager
tends to develop a cordial relationship with the workforce. They team work in a
coordinated way to achieve the goals in systematic manner.
 Performing – This is one of the most crucial stage in which various individuals
understand the strengths and weakness. They become confident and motivated to achieve
the objective set by the management. The team members work in a high morale and
maximize their overall efforts. University of Bedfordshire project manager can evaluate
the strengths and weaknesses of various individuals in order to achieve the overall
objective. The main focus of the team member’s woks in a coordinated way. This
component can help the project manager to execute the project in a significant manner.
 Adjourning – In this particular stage when the project ends the team will be disbanded
and the manager needs to form a new team in the future to achieve a goal for the
organisation. In relation to university of Bedfordshire project manager the individual do
not needs to disband the team. This team could help them to achieve their future goals

which is set by the management. The campus can build their infrastructure in a better
way. This will help them to attract new potential students to the college campus.
Critical discussion and a reflection of the Lessons Learnt from the project
After completing this project, I am able to learn in detail about the work of project
manager. There is key role of managing the work by project manager and they are able to attain
successful position. I have analysed that the there is need proper plan as it helps to carry on the
project tasks effectively. The plan made by the project team must be flexible so that necessary
changes can be made. There is requirement of learning from each and every stage. I am able to
deal with complex situation that take place in the project. There are situations that go out of
control of the management but they deal with the same and come out with a solution. I am able
to learn who the work is being divided in small activities and then carried with in right time. The
use of right skills and knowledge of project is being grabbed by carrying the project. The use of
network diagram assists the project team to carry on the work and select the critical path to
achieve effective position (Kerzner, 2022). I am able to learn about the important resources that
are required to carry on the work. I am able to learn the important of time management in
carrying the work. It is seen that of the project activities are not carried on right time then it will
become problematic. There is key role of working as per the required time and the plans made by
the project manager. I will be able to carry on the related projects in future in effective manner.
The use of effective project details and analysing the scope would help to attain a successful
position.
I have analysed that working in team is a good experience. In the starting when team
was formulated, I was worried that it will become difficult to coordinate. All the team members
are different form one another and this helps to carry on the team project effectively. The project
cannot be completed alone in effective manner. First of all, I am able to enhance my
communication skills. Due to the meetings undertaken to carry on the project. Being the leader
of team I carried the work in appropriate manner and managed all the team members. The
communication skills help to assign the work to all the key people in the team. I am able to
enhance my leadership skills as well. It is not an easy task to manage a team. There is need of
hard work and dedication to carry on the objectives of the project. There is need of managing the
work in such a manner that all the activities are carried in appropriate manner. The use of
leadership skills helps to directly deal with the team members. I kept on motivating them so that

they are able to achieve successful position. There is need of providing effective direction to the
team members so that they are able to work in appropriate manner. It is important to use all these
skills for delivering the project in effective manner. The use of such skills will make me efficient
in the market. The group working is necessary for the individuals who want to achieve success in
the market. There is need of managing the team in appropriate manner. I have enhanced team
working skills, leadership skills as well as communication skills by working in team. The use of
all these skills will help me to do the work in effective in future as well. This is necessary for the
team leader to have motivation and directing skills to carry on the work effectively.
I am able to enhance my skills and knowledge. Individual learning is also important. It
is seen that; my research skills have become so strong that I will use the same effectively in
future. I have carried a lol of research and carried details regarding the project management.
There is need of managing the project with the best tools and techniques. I have learnt about the
importance of completing the project in effective manner. The use of WBS and network diagram
is learner by carrying the project. Also, I am able to know about the role of project manager in
success of the delivering the project (Bond-Barnard, Fletcher and Steyn, 2018). The project
manager is able to carry on the work and divide the same effectively. There is need various other
members who can deceiver the project in appropriate manner. The team work helps to attain the
position of project that will make them effective. It is necessary to manage the work in
appropriate manner. I have enhanced by skills and knowledge regarding the project management,
its life cycle, the structure of carrying the project and managing the work appropriately. It is seen
that the use of all the concepts will help me to carry on the work effectively. The project has
enhanced my confidence level so that the future aspects are carried properly. It was a good
learning experience that enhanced by knowledge and skills. This is necessary for all the
individuals to learn from the experience.

CONCLUSION
From the above report, it is concluded that there is need of managing the project in effective
manner. There is need of deciding time scale and list of activities so that project is completed
properly. There is need of analysing the requirement of resources to deliver the project. In the
report there is evaluation if all the roles required to carry on a project. The roles and
responsibilities of project manager are part of this report. There is need of forming team that can
carry on the activities in proper manner and the same is important part of this report. In the end
there is discussion related the skills and knowledge being developed.
