PROJECT MANAGEMENT 2
Introduction
In this assignment, there will be a discussion about the three specific communication
topics which are non-verbal communications, interpersonal and intrapersonal communication
and communication apprehension. Non-verbal communication defines as exchanging of
information through gestures, emails, etc (Duhr, 2019). Intrapersonal communication defines
as the self-reflection. Interpersonal communication arises when communication happens
among two or more people (Begiri, 2018). Communication apprehension is the anticipated or
real fear and anxiety that an individual experience while addressing the mob or at public
speaking (Rahmani & Croucher, 2017). For each topic, two questions will be answered that
will describe the meaning of the topic and the important of topic for graduate recruits in
engineering/management.

Non-verbal communication
Overview
Nonverbal correspondence is the non-linguistic transmission of data through visual,
sound, material and sensation channels. Non-verbal communication can also be defined as the
transmission of messages or communication through the expressions of the face, body
posture, gestures and eye contact. This form of communication also includes the utilization of
visual cues such as body language, distance, voice quality, touch, eye contact and physical
appearance. Apart from this, non-verbal communication works with the functioning of
encoding and decoding. Encoding follows the sequence which includes facial expressions,
tone of voice, body movements, gestures, postures. Decoding means when other person
understand the signals through his prospective (Ciuffiani, 2017).
Reliability of non-verbal communication
According to Ray Birdwhistell, he concluded that non-verbal communication is 60-70
human communication and this is not a quantifiable act of communication. On the other
hand, this communication type does not reflect adequate human communication type because
every organization, government, an individual, etc. consider written communication as an
adequate method (Duhr, 2019).
Apart from this, airport security screeners are designed to read the body language of
an individual in order to identify threats. In Australia, Qantas Airways stated that they spend
over $5 million for the training of behaviour detection officers. These officers are trained
very well in reading the facial expression and other non-verbal clues that can help in
identifies, terrorists. However, critics said that there is no evidence that these efforts can stop
even a single terrorist in identification (Campbell & Atas, 2016).
