Project Management (PM) can be described as a process of initiating planning, managing
and execution of a project to achieve a specific goal. The PM process involves five distinct
phases, which are initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing (Kerzner 2017).
Throughout the execution of any undertaken project, constant project monitoring is needed to
ascertain project success. Therefore, PM can be considered as a critical process of any
undertaken project.

Work Breakdown structure (WBS) can be described as a deliverable oriented hierarchical
decomposition of the key works that are needed to be executed by a project team to ascertain
project success. WBS is mainly used for simplifying complex tasks into easier manageable units.
WBS simplifies the complex project tasks by breaking down the project into manageable
units. Each large task is broken down into smaller tasks which can be easily manageable
(Zecheru and Olaru 2016). A simple WBS of a Yard project are indicated as follows-
