The aim of the project is to explain functions for two nos RT 880 crane manufacturing
and dispatch from the side of production planning. The client is for this project is “Singareni
Collieries Company Limited” those provided an opportunity to work into the project. The
purpose of this procurement of crane is to use it into the Coal Mines area. I determined that crane
is required to support the operations such as lifting of heavy materials, loading of the materials,
driving along with extracting the piles. I conducted this project with use of Oracle System which
executed timely fulfillment of required order information like manufacturing, procurement and
financial measures.

CE 3.2.2 Objectives developed for the project
Following are the project objectives:
To understand the use of cranes and its major components
To identify the controls on the cranes
To understand how to perform the operations of crane
To execute the planning activities after the order is received
CE 3.2.3 My area of work
I prepared a material requirement plan for order execution throughout the Oracle System.
I developed an outsourcing plan with the vendors and executed same with the team of supply
chain. I determined the capacity planning and industrial engineering activities while conducting
the order execution. I also involved into production planning and control for achievement of
system job before the machines are put into finish good inventory. I involved into generating of
actual material and resources cost into the system to generate cost for machine build into Oracle
System that is going to be dispatched.

CE 3.2.5 My responsibilities throughout the project
In this project, my responsibility is to produce planning as well as control for execution
of project till it is dispatched to the customers. I supported towards execution of prestigious
customers from side of production planning and control. I coordinated with the marketing
department since the submission of tender till receiving the final order. I did all the technical
evaluation of the tender, negotiation of price with final approval for the order from the client
company.
CE 3.3 Distinctive Activity
CE 3.3.1 Comprehending the theory of the project
In order to execute the order for manufacturing of 2 no 75T rough terrain tyre mounted
mobile cranes. I used of Autonesting software for nesting the parts on plate for CNC generation
from the striker system with help of AutoCad. I generated a shortage report against the project
number from the Oracle System. I prepared the nesting for shortage report thickness wise, it was
done with help of Striker software. I did modification into nesting for better utilization of the
plates. Nesting cutting path is required to be done for the material cutting. Then, I had handover
the nesting requirement with the load chart towards the shop floor for operating.
CE 3.3.2 Engineering Knowledge and Skills applied in the project
I have engineering, planning, execution and managerial skills to execute the project work.
This project provides me opportunity to use my engineering skills to coordinate with the
supervisor and other departments, which will help me a lot in my future work. I have knowledge
to use of AutoCad and Autonesting software for the purpose to nest for plates.

CE 3.3.3 Accomplishment and task performed
After I received the order, I performed the study on customer order and tender copy. I
analyzed the customer demands after I reviewed the technical details of the customer’s order. I
reviewed the supply features of crane as per client company’s requirements and documented
that:
1. Max capacity (Outriggers) - 75.0 Tonnes at 3m Radius (85% Rating) 360° Slew
2. Max capacity (On tyres) - 32.3 Tonnes at 3m Radius (85% Rating) over front
3. Boom - 4 Sections Trapezoidal 11.0m to 34.6m
4. Maximum road speed – 30 km/hr
5. Carrier - 4 X 4 wheel drives with 4 wheels steer

After I received the order from the side of customer, I executed the sales order
configuration based on demands of customers and requirement of customer’s order. I generated
of two sales order number for two no RT 880 production. I prepared a master demand schedule
to complete the work on time after sales order creation by the load throughout the Oracle
System. It helps to demand manufacturing of items and demand for the procurement. I discrete
release of job for production and purchase requisition release for both domestic as well as import
item procurements. I created a move order into the oracle System for items which are needed for
fabrication and assembly stages for the purpose of production as well as allocation of items. I
used of Antonesting software for cutting of materials and processing of the project work. I used
of steel plates such as Weldox, JFE, Domex, Dilimax as the main raw materials. The local plates
were also used such as Mild Steel, Salima-350, salima-410 which have lower grade than the
imported plates. I analyzed the following specifications of the plates:
Type Name Thickness Length(mm

Width(mm)
Imported Domex 1/8”, 0.15”, 3/16” 10000/10500 1300

CE 3.3.4 Identified issues and their solutions
CE 3.3.4.1 Issues
There were issues regarding the delivery of orders to the customers on actual completion
time of process. Uncertainties into the completion time play a role to determine planned
customer order lead-times. There were uncertainties into the production process and provided of
higher quality requirements. I faced problems to determine the optimal planned lead times.
CE 3.3.4.2 Solution
I prepared a project schedule to measure the start as well as finish date of the project.
When we were not able to meet the deadline, then we used of information to make it realistic
estimation for the project in future. I prepared a project plan as well as schedule to manage the
project cost properly. I monitored the plan properly so as to monitor the cost estimation.
CE 3.3.5 Plan to produce creative and innovative work
The crane had 11.0-34.6 m of length for four sections telescopic trapezoidal full power
boom which is fabricated from higher strength lower alloy steel plates. There are two double
acting hydraulic cylinders with the integral holding valves. The boom angle is of maximum 80°
and minimum of -4°. I determined that the slew system is of ball bearing swing circle of 360
degree continuous rotation with slew speed is limited to 1.5 RPM. I used of load moment
indicator (LMI) and Anti-two block system (A2B system) which provides of electronic display
of the boom angle, length and load moment. Following are some the features of equipments:
Engine: Volvo TAD851VE, 252 HP @ 2200 RPM, Max Torque: 1160 Nm @ 1350 rpm
Fuel tank: Its capacity was 379 liters.

and stop lights with flashing indicators.
Drive: 4x4 / 4x2
Brakes: Dual brake system with hydraulic operating on the wheels.
Tyres: 29.5 X 25 – 28 PR – E3 Tread earthmover tyres.
Maximum speed: 30 kmph
Gross vehicle weight and axle loads: Front Axle – 25,600 kg. Rear Axle–25,500 kg,
GVW – 51,100 kg
CE 3.3.6 Collaborative work
I was the single point of contact from the department of production planning and control.
I coordinated with different departments for monitoring the production progress with the shop
managers. I coordinated with the marketing department for inspection of final customer along
with dispatch of the machines. I prepared as well as documented the project report to be
presented to supervisor to update the progress.
CE 3.4 Project review
CE 3.4.1 Project overview
Two no RT880 model was dispatched with the customer’s delivery time such that the
company got benefit and protect from any LD clause which was clearly mentioned into the order.
As the client was satisfied with the quality of the product output, therefore the organization will
get more order in future.
