PART A Academic writing plays a great role in sharing and acquiring knowledge and it helps university students to critically and clearly convey and learn complex concepts in well structured format (Alluqmani and Shamir, 2018). I have learned different types of academic writings which collectively assist me in successful completion of university objectives. Academic writing styles are mainly of four types which are: expository writing, narrative, persuasive and descriptive writing (Ward, 2016). I have learned that though each of these types has specific purpose and language features but for the overall academic excellence and tasks like empirical thesis, university assignments all these types are required. For instance when I was performing literature review then it was required for me to use critical approach in my writing. However for concluding results instead of being critical I used to adopt mainly analytical and descriptive approach. In my opinionthe most simple type of academic writing style is descriptive type which aims at providing information or facts. I have used descriptive style several times such as in describing summary of chapter of article or to present results or outcomes of an experiment. One of the finding which I gained through university experience is that most of the university level text is not descriptive instead it is analytical. Through analytical skill I learned that for better learning and course work as a student I must also be able to re- organise the information which can be described into parts, groups, categories or relationships. There were instances when I thought that my perspective differs from thatof presented argument and thus it is vital to mention my opinion as well in my writing. Thus the learning of persuasive writing style can give me a valuable opportunity to integrate analytical perspective and my personal opinion. The persuasive learning can also be helpful for me to gain better understanding from through reflective practices. Similarly for improving my research skills and data investigation I have learned the expository writing style which support the gathered data and information necessary for academic research work. PART B Child obesity Child obesity is defined as one of the major health issue in which weight of the children is greater than the healthy weight limit as per their height and age. The problem of excessive weight gain is rapidly increasing among children giving rise to chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiac issues and other respiratory or obesity related issues (Kim, Cubbin and Oh, 2019). Child
obesity is not only encouraged by factors such as genetics or personal behaviour but is also promoted by behaviour or control of parents, surrounding environment and community practices. The negligence of the issue has resulted in increased vulnerability of chronic diseases at very young age and thus affecting mortality rate. Thus it is very essential that public health workers and parents must work in collaboration to control and regulate the weight gain among children so that they can be prevented from obesity and related health complexities.
