Title: Launching of a new Laptop
1. Introduction
The main aim of the project is to develop a project plan for launching a new laptop. The
main purpose for developing this project is to get a detailed analysis of the project schedule that
includes the precedence table, and the network diagram for the project.
The analysis tool that is used in this project is the network diagram. The project plan is
explained with precedence table, the network diagram showings its early start (EST), early finish
(EFT), late start (LST) and late finish (LFT). Proper analysis of the project schedule is done
using pert chart and Gantt chart.
2. Precedence Table
Explanation of Table
The table below describes all activities that are carried out in the project of launching of a
new brand of laptop in the market. The table shows all the activities that are needed for carrying
out the project and the duration each activity will take in the project. The table below also shows
the precedents of all the activities (Sanghera 2019). This states on which a particular activity
depends on. To complete a project, all activities are being completed with human resource and
those human resources are mentioned in the table below.

3. Network Diagram
a) Network
Need of Network- Network diagram in a project states the visual representation of the
activities in a project. Network diagram helps to justify total time estimate in project. Network
diagram in a project includes planning, and helps to organize and control the project more
efficiently. This also shows the dependencies among the activities and helps in identifying
opportunities so that the schedule can be compressed.
From network diagram, the project can be viewed in graphical form that will include
series of rows and activities connected (Fleming and Koppelman 2016). From network diagram
the total time for completing the project can be calculated along with the project critical path.
Explanation of network diagram- The network diagram includes nodes, and arrows
connecting the nodes, the tail of the diagram is the starting point of project. The head of the
arrow represents the head of the project. The total length of the project is shows in network
diagram. The arrow of the project shows the sequence of activity and that particular activity on
which it depends.
The diagram shows network diagram of project and the path that is shown in the project
is the critical path. Critical path states sequence of all network activities that includes longest
duration. Critical path denotes shortest time by which project gets completed.

b) EST/ EFT/ LST/ LFT/ Float Summary Chart
Explanation of chart
Early start in a project states earliest date by which an activity might begin along with its
predecessors as well as successors. The time of early finish states the earliest time by which an
activity gets finished with their predecessors and successors. Late start in the table below states

the latest time when an activity starts not affecting planned finish date (Evdokimov et al. 2018).
Late finish states the latest date by which an activity can finish not delaying finishing time of the
project.

13MARKETING DATA ANALYSIS
The critical path in project states the network which states the latest completion date of
project. For determining the critical path, the total time that is estimated is added up in the
critical path. Critical path includes all the sequence of stages that determines the minimum time
that is required to complete the operation.
If anyone activity in the critical path is delayed, then the total completion time of the
project is also delayed and project cannot be completed in scheduled time. There is float in a
network diagram, which is also known as slack (Soe and Htike 2018). Float is total amount of
time that a project can be delayed from starting date not changing the project finishing date.
Float can be calculated as difference between the finishing time of an activity with the project
finishing time. Any delay in time with the activities on critical path will reduce the float time and
will result in late completion of the project.
Analysis on findings
Float of an activity states total time that task can be delayed not affecting deadlines of
other related tasks in the project and also not changing final completion date of project. Flat is
calculated by finding out the difference in time that is allotted to complete an activity from actual
time of the task to complete. If the value of the float is zero in an activity, it states that there is no
excess time in between the activities. The activities in a project that has zero float is considered
as an activity of critical path.
4. Activity Gantt chart
Gantt chart explanation
Gantt chart is needed in a project to set the planning as well as scheduling of all the tasks
in a project. This helps project manager in calculating total time project will take to complete and

helps to determine the resources that are needed. Gantt chart helps to add he dependencies as
well as the predecessors in a project (Harrison and Lock 2017). Gantt chart is important because
it helps to represent the schedules as well as activities and includes clear visibility of the time
frame and dates of the project. This helps in easy scheduling of the activities and get a visual
representation of the project.

project. The project completing time along with all the activities are shown in the diagram above

5. Resource Gantt chart
Resource chart explanation
Resource Gantt chart represents all human resources needed to complete the project. This
resource Gantt chart states all the activities resource who are responsible to complete the project.
Resource chart
Figure 1: Gantt chart with resources
(Source: Created by author using excel)
If resources are not used properly, the project will not get completed in required time and
there will be misuse of the project resource. All resources in a project should be used so that
proper completion of the project is done.

Conclusion
The report above states that both Gantt chart and network analysis is needed in a project
and those are extremely useful to complete a project successfully. Gantt chart states the pictorial
view of the project schedules and network diagram states the workflow of the project in pictorial
way. Gantt chart mainly focus on the tasks as well as time management and network diagram is
dependent on milestones and sequential work. Gantt chart helps in effective allocation of
resource.
