AI Summary
Unit: IT Project Management Scenario In this assignment you will choose and manage a suitable IT related project. The IT related project could be a MIS solution, a game development or a mobile application development. Ideally you should work for a “live client” e.g. a local business who wants a business solution which could be an advanced website. Task 1 of 2 – Project Proposal Instructions Once you have agreed your IT research topic with your tutor, produce a detailed proposal for the research project which includes the following: a. In the introduction, identify potential IT projects required from an appraisal of established business objectives of the client. b. Perform project feasibility study using suitable methods. c. Determine the project’s aims and objectives and share them with key stakeholders. d. Review project methodologies suitable for the chosen project and select a suitable methodology with justification. e. Second part of the proposal

PROJECT PROPOSAL
1. Identification of IT projects
The paper mainly reflects on “development of mobile application for local retail
business”. It was discovered that an average age people spend more than three to four hours each
day on mobile device and therefore enterprise mobility is considered as the new norms for the
entire business world. It is found that with the development of mobile application, a direct
marketing channel will be created between the business as well as customers that will further be
beneficial in enhancing the sales of the entire organization. Moreover, the developed mobile
application will be helpful in boosting brand recognition, assists in improving visibility, as well
as helps in improving the engagement of the customers.
2. Feasibility study
A proper feasibility analysis is generally conducted for properly evaluate the success of
the project by effectively determining the visibility of an idea by effectively ensuring that the
entire project is both technically as well as economically justifiable.
Technical feasibility: Proper focus is on various categories of technical resources which
are mainly available for organization for developing the mobile application. The various
technical resources including hardware as well as software which will be utilized for properly
developing the mobile app is further helpful in meeting the meeting the capacity and the need of
the project within the organization (Mukherjee and Roy 2017). If the technical resources are
properly utilized then the chances of any type of technical challenges for the organization is quite
low and therefore the undertaken project is considered to be technically feasible.
Economic feasibility: It is found that the project undertakes cost benefit analysis that
further help the organization in properly determining the viability, costs as well as benefits which

are mainly related with the project before financial resources are effectively allocated within the
project. The cost benefit analysis which is undertaken for showcasing that mobile application
development for local business is considered to be economically feasible (Bejarano et al. 2015).
The ROI for the undertake project will be around 0.2766. The figure which is given helps in
properly reflecting that the project is economically feasible.

3. Project aims and objectives
The project mainly aims to develop a mobile application for a local retail business in
order to attract more customers and for increasing the sales of the organization. The objectives
are listed below:
ď‚· To develop a mobile based application for a local retail business
ď‚· To increase as well as recognize customer loyalty for boosting brand recognition

ď‚· To increase the sales of the organization that further enhances the profit of the
organization.
4. Methodology for the project with proper justification
According to Peroni (2016), agile PM is considered as an iterative approach that mainly
helps in properly managing the project software. The agile approach helps in adding exceptional
opportunity for the customers by prioritizing features starting from the iteration to the review
sessions for building continuous features. The agile software helps in allowing the project client
to properly identify the priorities of the features for understanding the needs that are significant
for the client for properly delivering the features which helps in providing most important value
to the business.
It is reflected by Patwardhan et al. (2016) that use of agile software assists in improving
project quality by breaking down the project into units such that the project team can be able to
focus on proper quality testing, quality development and proper collaboration. By effectively
undertaking reviews, quality that is associated with the project generally gets improved by
effectively fixing different types of defects properly effectively identifying as well as fixing
different types of shortcomings effectively by determining the expectations that mismatches
early (Sunner 2016). In addition to this, agile software is considered as a powerful tool that not
only provides benefits to the team that engages in development but it also helps in giving
different types of benefits to the project clients.
Furthermore, it is opined by Altameem (2015) that agile software is considered as the
most efficient software as each of the sprint generally has fixed duration and therefore the cost is
found to be very much expectable as well as restricted to the work that is mainly completed by

the team members. Combined with the estimation provided to the client it is found that the client
can be able to properly understanding the cost for each of the feature which is further beneficial
in improving the procedure of decision making about the priority of different features. In
addition to this, agile development is considered to be very much iterative such that all the
features get properly delivered that further provides a number of benefits when the product
generally remains in the project development procedure.
5. Project management plan
5.1 Project scope
In-scope
The project in-scope generally include:
ď‚· Collection of ideas from the market before developing the mobile app
ď‚· Creating design for the project prototype
ď‚· Development of database for mobile app
ď‚· Code validation
ď‚· App testing
Out scope
Out scope of the project is listed below:
ď‚· Training needs will not be arranged for the workers who work for successful
development of mobile application
ď‚· The details about the vendors are not discussed in the research proposal report

5.4 Project quality
It is found that for properly maintaining the quality of mobile app development, different
types of steps are undertaken by the project team members and those steps are listed below:
Setting realistic timeframe: Time constraints are considered as the major root cause for
quality issues and therefore, if realistic timeframe is set for the entire project then the manager
can be capable of getting enough time for focussing on project quality rather only focussing on
the completion date of the project (Shaari et al. 2015).
Providing training: It is identified that for properly maintaining the quality of the
project, the team members must be trained in such a way that they can be able to follow proper
quality related strategies as well as procedures during the execution phase of the project.
Stick to the project needs: after the quality criteria as well as project needs are properly
defined in the project. It is quite important to properly balance the project improvement as
adding features which are not actually demanded by the customers generally helps in delaying
the project by successfully increasing the cost of the project (Qin, Liu and Kuang 2016).
Controlling quality: It is important to make sure that the deliverables of the project are
quite correct and are free from different types of issues and therefore proper focus is on the
project quality is needed from starting to the closure phase of the project. Furthermore,
determining as well as correcting various types of defects can further be helpful in saving both
time as well as money that is associated with the project.
