Library Website Redesign Project

This document outlines the project plan for redesigning a library website. It details several key stages, including initial meetings with the team and stakeholders to discuss progress and goals in December 2016. A soft launch meeting takes place in January 2017 with team members and stakeholders to gather feedback. February 2017 sees the announcement of the soft launch, followed by design corrections to address any issues. Finally, the project culminates in the official launch of the redesigned website for users in February 2017.

Dear Sir
I would like to request approval to carry out the project on Re-design of existing library
website. The reason of select the following project is it has recorded that the services users have
faced various issues at the time of access of website o library of college. The areas that will cover
by me during the recreation of website are as follows:
Project description
 The collage library website redesign project will contain some important activities:
 Redesign of home pages to make access by users easier
 Redesign the website architecture and navigation win the aim of improve searching ability
 Execute Content Management Systems (CMS) so that site governance and its infrastructure
can be improved.
 Introducing decentralized content management
Develop dependent infrastructure to make the site fully integrated on a single CMS
Project goals and outcomes
 A new design of library website will as per the users need and requirements not as per the
college structure.
 It will be more user friendly as compare old web design plan with effective search and
navigation system.
 Developing a clear strategy to re-design college library website in order to maintain website
content on an ongoing requirements.
 More streamline website structure and integrate with other internet links to easy access and
searching.
 To decentralized workflow with the aim of managing contents of website.
I believe that by doing the following project work I can gain the knowledge and connections
necessary to understand the project management.
This project will contain 500 pounds budget with 5 months timeframe to complete it.

INTRODUCTION
In the project management, a project charter defines to a statement of the objectives, scope
and people involve in a project work. It delivers primary information regarding the roles and
responsibilities of team members, project objectives, interested stakeholders, project board
members etc. The present study is based on project charter where website re-design project is taking
into the consideration in order to understand its importance. This will deliver project overview,
details and project plan.

Project Purpose In existing library website, there is a need of to make website as a user

centred design, reduce the size of webpage with their numbers, improve
overall structure and format of website, update and intuitive navigation
etc. The purpose to address all these needs of library website is to make it
more effective and improve for student access.
Project goals and
outcomes
A new design of library website will as per the users need and
requirements not as per the college structure.
It will be more user friendly as compare old web design plan with
effective search and navigation system.
Developing a clear strategy to re-design college library website in order
to maintain website content on an ongoing requirements.
More streamline website structure and integrate with other internet links
to easy access and searching.
To decentralized workflow with the aim of managing contents of website.
Project scope The scope of project includes several things:
 All web pages on the library domain will need to be review to
determine the loopholes in existing website structure.
 All applications related to request to book issue requested, reissue
of book, submitting of fines on late issue etc will be embedded in
a single new re-design webpage of library.
 Exploring and thinking over the option of developing a mobile
application of college library website.
The scope of project that will not include all these things:
 Different old web pages contents at the time of re-designing of
library website.
 Do not include the information in the Digital Formats.
Project deliverables The major deliverables of the following project will be re-designing of
website to make it more users friendly and more manageable by reducing
complaint regarding accessibility requirements.
Benefits The benefits of re-design of college library website will be:
Users centred
Less pages with main information that assist the users to easily find the
important information.
Will include less dead contents with minimum duplication of information.

Improve navigation on website
Complaint with AODA legislations
Adopt new strategy in order to develop new and effective contents that
can guide the users to search information.
Easy to update CMS that enable decentralized contents of website.
A mobile first design strategy will aid the management of library to create
a plan regarding campus mobile template for Smartphone.

Risks or constraints Less availability of time frame: There have too much time consume in
pre work of the project which has reduced the time of implementing and
lunching of new re-design website of library for various stakeholders.
This thing may be delay the launch plan of project from its schedule
duration.
Project Team: The demand of facilities of project team may have varied
on individual basis. This thing can affect their interest which will directly
or indirectly make impacts of project deliverables. Along with this, it may
be possible few of them are not capable or less skilled to perform their
job duties.
Internal stakeholders: There can be a possibility that at the time of re-
designing of website of college, some users my face issue relate to access
the information or take more time to become more familiar with new
website.
Timing of user testing: If library management involve users in the testing
work then it will difficult to complete the whole on time with
unachievable deliverables.
Assumptions The following project contains the below assumptions:

centred not based on college requirements.

Budget requirements The major budget requirement in order to complete the following project
is project team member timing. CMS has freely available on internet
which will contain no cost. Along with this, the project manager of
website re-design of library project will require 700 pounds.
