INTRODUCTION
Introducing healthy habits in individual is related to their psychological behaviours. This
report is based on specific personal health change and utilizes health behaviour change theory the
health believe model to explain the efforts made to introduce specific health change. The specific
health change which is focus of this report is increasing excursive to improve cardiovascular

MAIN BODY
The health belief model is a social psychological health behavior change model which
explains in predicts health related behaviors with specific focus on uptake in health services of
individuals. The theoretical constructs provided in this model are perceived
susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, modifying variables,
cues to action and self-efficacy (Ataei and et. al., 2021).
The first theoretical construct of this model perceived susceptibility looks at subjective
assessment made by individuals relating to the risk of developing a specific health problem. If
the level of susceptibility of risk of a disease is high then individuals I'm more prone to engage in
health behaviors low susceptibility leads to denial of health risk and engagement with health
behaviors. In case of the personal health problem of heart disease the risk is high because of
history of cardiovascular disease in family history. This makes the received
susceptibility high and engagement in healthy change behaviors increases.
The second theoretical construct provided in this model is perceived severity which refers
to the subjective evaluation of severity of a health problem and its consequences. individuals
with higher perceived severity have more possibility of engaging in health change behaviors to
prevent dangerous results in comparison to individuals with low perceived severity. the high
perceived ability of cardiovascular diseases has prompted changes.
In the next element of this model, the perceived benefit of the health
behavior are highlighted (Luquis and Kensinger, 2019). If the perceived benefit of the health
change behavior are highly valued than the motivation to engage with the behavior will be high
and if the health behavior do not provide significant benefits than engagement with health
change behavior will be low. In case of personal health change of increasing exercises the health
