RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Background of The Study
Sexual health is referred to be an utmost important consideration for every individual
where it defines a state of emotional, social, physical and mental welfare in regard to
sexuality. It thereby necessitates an affirmative and humble approach towards sexual
relationships and sexuality. It is on considering the current study that will tend to identify the
awareness level of people in regard to the sexual health and wellbeing (Why is sexual health
important?, 2017). This is basically to enquire their current knowledge level regarding the
same as a way of reducing the rising level of STD’s in UK. I work for GSH (Greenwich
Sexual Health) I have notice that a lot of people don't know about STI's, contraception and
wellbeing. My research will identify the areas in which the participants have knowledge and
in which areas young people and adults are unware of these subjects.
My research will describe the importance of wellbeing and how young people
understand for wellbeing, the importance and knowledge about STI's and contraception. This
research is very important because will describe the reasons of pregnancy in young teenagers,
the increase of Chlamydia and others STD's and how sexual health is connected
with wellbeing (Brotto and Barker, 2015). My research is related with society and how
people react about theses subject. Also, how these subjects will attract the interest of the
participants. Birth control, sexual health and wellbeing is related with teenage pregnancy,
LGBT health, sex work, sexuality, abortion, neonatal death and sexually transmitted
infections and HIV. Most adults are sexually active, and a very good sexual health is
important for every person and the society.
Research Aims
A prior aim of this investigation is “To determine the awareness level of people in
London about Sexual health and wellbeing- A study on contraception, prep, pep and
wellbeing”.
Research Objective
It is on the above intended goal of the research that is required to be achieved with the
help of below formulated objectives-
 To ascertain the knowledge level of people in London about contraception.
 To acknowledge the responsiveness of people residing in London about prep and pep
measures.

 To evaluate the alertness of London residents about their Sexual wellbeing.
Research Questions
The below framed questions are concerned with a timely attainment of the research by
investigating participant’s knowledge about contraception, prep, pep and wellbeing.
Considering these aspects, below are the research questions-
1-What do you understand by contraception?
2-Do you know about PREP and PEP and their importance at the moment?
3-What do you understand by wellbeing?
Preliminary Literature Review
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines sexual health as: 'a state of physical,
emotional, mental and social wellbeing in relation to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of
disease, dysfunction or infirmity' (WHO, 2006). This research aims to investigate the
knowledge of people to explore the familiarity with birth control, and sexual health. The
study scrutinizes the behavior and social services related with wellbeing and how people
understand about pregnancy. Sexual health is together referred to be a likelihood of having an
enjoyable and secured sexual experiences which is free of any type of pressure, ferocity or
discernment, etc. For this purpose, (Collins, Rocco and Bryant, 2014) has hereby stated to
give a prime importance to the sexual rights of all people by respecting, fulfilling and
protecting it.
This research use information from diverse sources including people from different
background cultures and different ages. The information that is provided for this study comes
from GSH that collaborate with my research. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights
states that everyone has the right to life, liberty and security, but many countries do not
respect women rights and their control their lives, liberty and their bodies. In most of this
countries woman have very restricted access to contraception and education, some of them
are in a risk to get pregnant, being infected with HIV, STI's and experience depression or
stress related with sexual health (Sexual health and Women rights, 2017). Contraception aims
to prevent pregnancy, there are many methods such as condoms that help to prevent
pregnancy and STIs. Most adult women use pill and condoms as a contraception method.
Good reproductive and sexual health is a state of complete wellbeing, physical, social
and mental health link with the reproductive system. Also, provide evidence that satisfactory
sex life, reproduction and have the ability to reproduce, choose when and how often to do is
an important part of the people’s life. For example, the city of London has the highest rate of

STIs in the country with 117,600 cases in 2016 compared with 123,800 in 2015 (standard,
2017) the rates of chlamydia and syphilis are increasing and gonorrhoea decrease because a
lot of people is aware of STD’s, use condoms and test frequently.
Methodology
According to oxford dictionaries, 2017 Methodology is a system of methods used in a
particular area of study or activity. Mixed methods research, combining qualitative and
quantitative approaches, has increase considerable in popularity in the science field in the last
20 years. It also growing in parts of accounting, academe and management accounting
research, in this area has become a subject to critical evaluation and development theory
(Modell, 2005, 2009, Brown and Brignall, 2007). This section is together important for both
the readers and the investigator where it will provide a guiding sense to the researcher in
carrying out the study with assistance of well-defined measures. Also, the readers will be able
to make a clear interpretation of the results acquired from the study and lead to a specific
research work with a timely accomplishment of its stipulated goals.
This research will take place in London, where presently a lot of people are not aware
about STD's, reproduction and wellbeing and its relation with good health. The time that I
need is 3 months I have to organize do my questionnaires and find information online of the
data collection from other sources (El-Guebaly and Butterwick, 2016). Data collection,
presentation and analysis for this research the tools are surveys and must be analyse in the
population that must be addressed for example the validity of data must be reliable. Using
tables, percentages, bar charts, pie charts and histograms. The Data that is use in healthcare
sector includes Correlation analysis, mode and median, mean and standard deviation. In the
use of the quantitative method it is important to use quotes and referred the thematic analysis
explaining the tables, percentages and bar charts.
The Study Design and Method
Research design use paradigms positivism, anti-positivism and post positivism that
will explain the position of the interview in how the new knowledge is created. My research
is based on quantitative that include positivist paradigm. This method uses tools such as
surveys, questionnaires, measurements and equipment to collect measurable data (Cappiello,
Levi and Nothnagle, 2016). Also, this method involved three steps the first one is to research
proceed the data collection, the second analyses the data and the last step report in writing the
data. Beside this, the study design together indicates a clear structure of the research work
and reflects as a blueprint of the carried study. Methods on another hand provides a clear

specification of the undertaken study in terms of carrying it in the most suitable manner with
no such deviating approach.
Data Collection Method
My research uses quantitative method that generates numerical data or info that can
be converted into numbers. Also, quantitative method uses questionnaires and statistical data.
This method focuses more in counting and classifying features and constructing statistic
models and figures to explain what is observed (Criniti and et. al., 2016). This in turn
indicates the use of a primary data collection method which in turn is proven to assist the
investigator in getting direct response from the targeted set of respondents. This will in turn
assist the investigator to directly target the identified issues of the research work with a
greater control of interpreting the acquired data in the best possible manner.
Theoretical perspectives guide my research in tree questions that I should include
Ontology that define the nature of the knowledge, and Epistemology analyse the link between
the ‘known’ and the ‘person seeking knowledge’ (Brown and Brignall, 2007). Although,
secondary methods of research have together been used for the purpose of collecting data that
has been specified above, in the section of literature review. It has in turn assisted the
investigator to refer to some previously carried investigations in a similar field of research
and compare the outcomes of both the measures to finally conclude the most pertinent
information. This will in turn assist the researcher to attain the stipulated goals and objectives
of the conducted investigation within a specified time period.
