Current event in USA politics
The current event that has been chosen here is the march of the young generation against
the immigration raids. This event has taken place very recently in the province of Mississippi.
Many young people have marched from the Catholic Church to a town square in the state. The
immigration raids were done at the chicken processing plants (O'Loughlin and Long-Garcia). It
had been reported earlier that hundreds of immigrants had been detained in the region. The news
has come that the President of USA Donald Trump and the Republican allied force have
defended the immigration raids in the region. However, the local Catholic Churches have
emerged as the material and spiritual aiders of these immigrant people. However, the reaction of
some churches has been somewhat of the political opposing. Standing at this point of time, it
seems quite disturbing and confusing to deal with the situation in a cool head.
The situation had become so much intense that a group of children became very much
intensified as they declared that they will not stay silent like before. It is because these migrants
had been taken away by the police. Due to this issue, the parents of these children had joined
them as well. The spiritual chiefs of Mississippi such as the bishops of the Catholic, Evangelical
Lutheran, United Methodist and Episcopal sections have spoken against this kind of immigration
raids in the locality (O'Loughlin and Long-Garcia). This kind of activity is seriously very much

questionable since these migrants were not doing harm to any of those people. Some social
workers have even ranked this similar to an invasion process. Around 600 federal agents have
been used in this raid in the chicken processing plant. This event has not been liked by any of the
people in the country. People are very deeply enraged and they want justice to be exercised on
these people (Moinester; 1160). The Bishop of that particular Catholic Church had declared this
as a ‘man-made disaster’. He clearly declared those people to be their neighbors and he assured
that they were very good people indeed. They were not at all criminals and their fundamental
rights of living in a country had been taken away from them indeed. This is why this event was a
black spot on the activities carried out by the British government as a part of their politics
(Kennedy: 350). The people of the locality were also v ery much astonished to realize that the
government authorities wanted to carry out this operation on the people at Mississippi when their
children were about to begin their school on the very first day. This was very much heart
wrenching and painful for the commoners who lived there.
As a matter of fact, it must be said that the people of the locality were not at all ready to
digest this kind of behavior since they knew that these people had been deprived of their jobs and
they were facing tremendous financial hardships to earn their bread (Moinester; 1160). In this
course, these people wanted a safe shelter under the roof where they could at least pass their
days. The political agendas took the toll of their happiness as well. This is where the church
figures and the common people of the region came up for a joint protest. The situation had turned
out to be completely against them and they had to pay their bills and their refrigerators were left
empty at the same time as well (Kennedy: 350). The church communities along with the diocese
will look to help these people in the locality since they will have to provide the means for the
living of these people.

Therefore, the main responsibility of these people will be to protect the rights of these
helpless people. The raids made on these people just cannot be supported at all. So, the protests
made against them are completely justified indeed. Bishop Kopacz of the particular Catholic
Church had concluded the matter by saying that they will definitely look to help these people by
collecting donations from the nearby regions. However, these protests showed the government
that their whimsical decisions are affecting the lives of many helpless common people. They are
completely misusing their political power to show their authority on the people of the country.
This practice is definitely not something that can be supported since the lives of the common
people were at stake indeed. The decisions of the government cannot always be supported if they
are made just out of showing their authority on helpless nomads.
