Question 1 State the following: • Two independent variables and the levels within each variable [Hint: If, for example, “gender” is the independent variable, then “male” and “female” are the levels within the variable.] • Dependent variable • Predicted outcome (experimental and null hypotheses) Independent Variables: The test was conducted in two phases, Phase I and Phase II, wherethere were set of independent variables. Two independent variables are type of cues at studyand type of cue at test( either strong or weak). Levels within each variable is strong cues andweak cues. Dependent Variable: Proportion of times that I correctly judged that test probe was on thelist.Predicted Outcome: Experimental hypotheses included recognizing target when cueencoding was retrieved. Null hypothesis included not able to analyse strong and weak cueswith targets. Question 2 Present a screenshot of your results (graph) and a screenshot of the global data (graph), and compare the results. Determine whether or not the individual and global data support the experimental hypothesis. [Word limit for Q1 and Q2 = 200]2 | P a g e
Answer: Analysing screenshots of individual data and comparing with global data reflect thatboth the data supports experimental hypothesis. Results from individual and global data reflectsthat more accurate recognition of the target is achieved when cue at encoding was similar to cueat retrieval. When cue at retrieval was different then appropriate target recognition was notachieved. The experiment reflected that a weak cue is not always a weak cue. Results weredependent upon experimental conditions, where a weak cue can yield better performancecompared to a strong cue during the study, which further dependent on the cues at the test. 3 | P a g e
