Human development is admittedly in stages. Every stage is accompanied by impacts on the
psychological, physical and general development on the person (Scheck, 2014). Success through
the stages leads to a better life while failure leads to challenges in life (Newman & Newman,
2011).
As a 10-year-old boy, Raul has passed through the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd stages that build hope, will
and purpose upon success and mistrust, self-doubt and guilty upon failure. Moreover, Raul is
now in the 4th stage that leads to competency and academic or general hard work rather.
It is at the 4th stage where a child is expected to develop the urge to reading and writing as
well as develop interest to tackle sums. It is unfortunate that the teacher who took Raul from ages
five might have not natured this skill or apparently has not been approved for the little he has
been doing since children in stage four appreciate recommendations.
The anxiety in Raul relates to the first stage in life where a child develops confidence and a
sense of security. Infants mostly interact with their mothers. However, the fact that the mother
was ill during the early infancy of the child might have brought about the anxiety nature in the
child. Moreover, the child must be undergoing some psychological problems especially in the
response. Failure in the 1st stage might have brought about the irresponsive nature.
The strict nature of the father also might have affected the child development. Children at the
2nd stage tend to be playful and noisy as they play games. Shouting at the children might have
brought about the irresponsive nature in Raul since failure at the 2nd stage leads to doubt. Raul
might be thinking that he is wrong in everything he does since children at stage two normally
develop a sense of doubt in everything they do when they are stopped from involving themselves
in the activities in the 2nd stage.

Raul might not need medical assistance but a very good and understanding environment that
would bring back the positive effects of the earlier stages of development and the father needs to
be understanding especially to the children if at all he wants the best out of them.
