PUBLIC HEALTH1
Healthy people are considered as the foundation of providing science-based national
objective to improve the health and well-being of the American population. There are three
different bench-marks established and maintained by Healthy People (Healthypeople.gov,
2019):
Encourage association with different sectors and communities.
Empower different individuals to take well-established and healthy decisions.
Evaluate the advantage of different prevention activities.
The most common disease identified disease that affects large population of people in
United States is cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is one of the most prevalent
forms of heart diseases, affecting approximately 370,000 people every year. More than
735,000 people were suffering from cardiovascular disease. According to Healthy people,
there are various rusk factor that leads to cardiovascular disease namely diabetes, high blood
pressure, smoking, high cholesterol, obesity and overweight. According to WHO,
approximately 17 million people all over the world die due to cardiovascular disease,
specifically strokes and heart attack. The leading cause of cardiovascular disease world-wide
is smoking cigarettes, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity, which increases the risk of
cardiovascular disease 2 to 3 fold (Who.int, 2019).
The primary goal identified by Healthy People 2020 states, “Improve the condition of
cardiovascular well-being and superiority of life by prevention, recognition, and management
of the risk factors that lead to the condition of heart attack and stroke; quick identification and
management of strokes and heart attacks; preventing the repeat of cardiovascular
proceedings; and decrease in death rate due to cardiovascular disease” (Healthypeople.gov,
2019). In the heart disease and stroke section of Healthy people, there are different set of
objectives that are developed to reduce the condition of cardiovascular disease specifically
