Question 1
Ans a: Neoliberalism is referred to be the re-emergence of the 19thcentury’s ideas in relation
to that of the free market capitalism and the laissez-faire economic liberalism. These ideas of
neo-liberalism consists of the ideas of the economic liberalization ideas like privatization,
free trade, austerity and deregulation in the markets. These market based ideas are said to be
distinct from those of the post war Kenyan consensus.
In the recent years, the term has become a method of identifying a set of particular of
handbook oriented policies as being largely responsible for the a number of social, political,
economic as well as the ecological problems in the world. Experts state that the concept of
neo-liberalism requires state intervention to establish a free market in the country itself
(Bouchal et. all, 2015).
Ans b: Neo-liberalism is said to impact the public policy making in the sense that the concept
of neo-liberalism with its concept of free market as well as its economic goals and policies
have urged the government of the countries to implement the policies so that the markets in
the countries can have trade freely on their own and the price of the products in the countries
can be managed by the traders in the market themselves. Hence, neo-liberalism is said to
influence the policy making processes in the countries itself.
Ans c: Examples of neo-liberalism can be found in the countries and the public policies of
those countries where the public policies exists. One such example of the neo-liberalism can
be seen in the public policies of the country of Greece itself. It was during the Greek debt
crisis that the officials of the EU had asked the country for the adaption of a number of
policies in order to avoid the problems the country had been going through during that time in
the country itself (Bouchal, 2013). These policies included the policies of the tax reforms as
well as reforms in the administration and also the business friendly reforms in the country
