QUALITY OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESS 1. Introduction The main aspect of this report is to deal with the quality regarding an implementation of the project management process. The main aspects regarding the quality will be explained in the below report. The chief entities that the report will be dealing with are said to be the processes related with the project management, the issues that a project management faces while executing the processes as well as the quality metrics that will be used for evaluating the project’s quality (Kerzner and Kerzner 2017). These aspects will be dealt thoroughly and further explained in eth below stated report. 2. Literature review According to, the quality of project management incorporates the activities as well as the processes, which are used by a project manager for the achievement of the quality regarding the specific deliverables of a particular project. As quality is specifically associated with the necessities of each stakeholders as well as customers regarding the deliverables of the project, it can be well justified that, more efficient and accurate the quality is, it will be very easy to offer better facilities to the customers. Moreover, the quality management plan of a project deals with certain customers’ requirements that are to be well incorporated to cope with the customer satisfaction thus achieving the stated goals of an organization (Nicholas and Steyn 2017). There are certain methodologies that the management team follows regarding the maintenance of the quality in the overall processes of the project management. Firstly, the identified method is said to be the customer satisfaction. This method is the most important aspect regarding the project quality management as this phase critically assess the needs of the customer so that the project can be structured in an enhanced manner that the customers will be effectively offered with good services. Secondly, the method can be identified as the prevention of error that might occur during the process
QUALITY OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESS execution of a specific project. The issues that are faced during the procedure must be critically managed for coping with the quality of the project. This stage will also seek to identify the risks and thus prevent from any big loss. Lastly, the stage that is carried out is said to be the continuation of the improvement procedure regarding the process of project management (Lindhard and Larsen 2016). This stage will enhance the project manager to cope with the frequent changes in the customers’ needs to deal with the quality of project management process effectively. According to, the management of the project quality depends on three main aspects by which the project is said to meet up with the goals of the organization. The first aspect deals with the quality planning of the project. This phase deals with the effective planning regarding the type of quality as well as the level of the quality that is desired by the customers associated as end users within the project. The second aspect is stated as the assurance regarding the project quality (Muller 2017). This phase depicts the planning that is carried out in the previous steps and then ensures the quality to be implied on the project to meet the sustainable goals regarding the project. The last aspect is stated as the control over the performed quality management. This is necessary as the quality management is said to be a continuous process even after the project is completed and on execution. These three aspects contains 3 sub processes each that are likely to be Inputs, the tools and techniques used and the outputs. Each of the processes follows these sub processes separately and accurately so that the quality of the project management is effectively enhanced regarding the end users present within the project. 3. Project management processes The processes that are followed regarding the management of a project can be stated with the help of five phases. These are explained briefly with the following figure.

QUALITY OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESS (Image: Project Management Process) (Source: Kerzner and Kerzner 2017) Project initiation: This is said to be the initial phase of the project management lifecycle. This stage performs the feasibility study as well as the value of the entire project. The evaluation tools used by the efficient project managers for performing this step are the document of the entire business case and the feasibility study of the document. Project planning: This is the phase where project is guided with a strong plan regarding the execution of the entire project. This requires the critical analysis of the resources, financial constraints and the materials that are needed for the effective execution of the project (Cockerhamet al.2016). This also seeks to identify the vulnerabilities within the project environment that can interrupt the project execution procedure. Project execution: This phase of the project management lifecycle mainly deals with the management of the overall project. This phase thrives to structure the overall project infrastructure to cope with the satisfaction of the customer. The project execution mainly depends on the project-planning phase as with the proper planning the project can be executed in effective terms.
QUALITY OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESS Project control: This phase simultaneously works with the project execution procedure as this step continues to monitor as well as control of the overall project execution strategies adapted by a project manager. Project closure: This is said to be the final phase of the project management procedure. This phase deals with the delivery of the project to the specified customer in accordance with the various stakeholders present within the overall project structure (Shaheenet al.2019). This mainly evaluates the project document with the overall completed project. Hence, this is depicted as one of the most important stage within the project management lifecycle. The Audit process is said to be the imperative asset that assess the project progress conducting regular audit sessions, which assures the achievement of the objectives as stated by the project (Gunaydin and Gulfer 2015). The audit process follows the three basic project characteristics that verifies the following three criteria: The implementation of the strategic tools that will be used for the organization as well as monitoring every aspect of a project when it is under execution. This process clearly defines the phases as well as sub processes those projects all over the lifecycle. The responsibilities are thoroughly checked that ensures the various phases of the project that agrees to the stated objectives. The project audit procedure follows a series of steps that helps the process to undergo the understanding of the project objectives in respect to a project management procedure. These are explained as follows: Planning: The planning of the audit procedure is stated to be strategized as well as effective plan that is associated with the audit process to carry out the audit procedures regarding a project in a particular execution procedure of a project.
QUALITY OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESS Design: The design of an audit procedure is said to be the fact that the proper infrastructure that is being followed by a project manager to carry out the audit processes in effective manner. Fieldwork: This is said to be the process regarding which the audit of the project can be carried out when the project is under execution. (Image: Audit Procedure) (Source: Kerzner 2018) Reporting: With the successful audit procedure of the project, the results thus achieved may be reported in a proper document to and then this report must be critically assessed by a project manager for the effective execution of the project processes. CorrectiveActions: According to the audit reports, a project manager decides the corrective measures that are to be taken by the project management team for mitigating the risks or the gaps as identified by the project audit report (Silveret al.2016). Moreover, the areas in which the corrective actions are to be carried out is identified as the areas of non-

QUALITY OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESS conformance. The immediate action that is carried out by the project manager are referred as the steps of the “damage control”. Non-conformance mainly refers to the work that is being performed for fixing the consequences regarding the failures or the errors that are identified during the project execution procedure. The manager should follow the below template for maintaining the non- conformance within the environment of a project life cycle. (Image: Non Conformance Template) (Source: Ahmed 2016)
QUALITY OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESS The above template must be followed as well as processed by a project manager for reporting the non-conformance issues related or as observed within the project execution procedure. 4. Demonstration of the tools involved Seven project management tools are associated with the quality control of a project. These are mainly stated as Flowchart, Check Sheet, Pareto chart, Histograms, Control Charts, Fish Bone Diagram and Scatter Diagrams. In this section, an audit of the project quality management regarding a project of construction is carried out that can be used by a project manager for critically assessing the conformance as well as non-conformance areas regarding the project (Okahet al.2018). The steps that are followed by the organization to carry out the quality audit of the construction project. These are identified and described as follows: The first step of a project quality audit is said to be the interaction with the end users. With the help of this process, the needs of the customers are critically assessed regarding their quality issue as well as their expectations. The project execution field interview is carried out and then documented in the next step (Abramson 2018). The quality records as well as the reports are then recorded in the form of an audit report that are critically analysed by the project manager. Then the inspection of the tasks are carried out to evaluate the inspections that are analysed from the report. Then the follow up of the audit plans are taken in accordance to the stated report. According to the report the action plan is to be generated which will be effective in order to mitigate the risks associated with the report. In case of a construction project, the tools that are used for the different phases of the project quality management lifecycle are enhanced in each manner. The tools that are used for the planning of quality is said to be the cost benefit analysis, experiment designs, quality cost and additional planning tools (Pheng 2018). The tools that are used for assuring the
QUALITY OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESS performance of quality is said to be the audits, process analysis and control of quality tools. Lastly, the tools that are to be associated with the control of the performance quality are stated as cause effect diagram, control charts, histogram, flowchart, scatter diagram and inspection. 5. Quality Metrics The term quality metrics is said to be the prime component regarding an effective and enhanced management plan for quality as well as the measurements, which ensures the satisfaction of the provided products to the customer (Mshelia 2019). This is used directly to emphasize on the needs of the customer via providing positive measures of the performance measures regarding both the processes as well as products. The below table shows the criteria regarding the quality metrics of a construction project.
