My observations about TTF Scenario
The TTF scenario gives us an idea that they are not utilizing WHS as a well-developed
stream designed for the work safety and hazard management tool. WHS is a self-sustainable
stream of data collection and hazard management system. The WHS department of TTF does
not understand its potential as a probable knowledge management tool and a tool that can
mitigate future problems. All the states across the country follow certain work safety
standards, these safety standards form the benchmark of the safety for various organizations
in the state.
Safety should be a culture of an assembly line. WHS guidelines have this potential to come
up with necessary guidelines that can bring in this culture into the day to day practices of an
organization. The present condition of TTF gives us an idea that this organization is aware of
the culture of the WHS however, they are not aware of its right implementation.
Question 2
WHS acts set a prescribed benchmarking for the safety standards. As a system, the range of
WHS has omnipresence in all the departments. It fixes the responsibility of all stakeholders
the process of the commissioning of a machine or a system. It also sets safety benchmarks
during the phase of the functionality. In the case of TTF, we can see that external
stakeholders are following the benchmarks, however, the functional teams working with the
machines and systems are not following the guidelines.
Question 3
Lack of education, awareness and serious lapses in the communication are the primary areas.
The standards of the safety hazard management are getting more and more accurate and

foolproof with each passing day, however, it is not the case with the TTF, and here they are
doing it as yet another formality or a fruitless exercise.
Question 4
The biggest issue is related to the reporting of the events. TTF WHS team is not able to report
the incidents in the right fashion and this is why the senior authorities are not able to come up
with a policy based intervention.
Question 5
In the case of TTF, we can identify the policies related to the risk assessment and risk
mitigation with the help of the introduction of right procedures, as the key policy that can
determine the key performance areas of the WHS interventions in the organization.
Question 6
Work and health safety act 2011 recommends the constitution of Health and Safety
Committee for keeping a check and balance on various activities of the policymakers of the
organization. TTF is in a need of these committees that can implement the primary
recommendations of the act.
Question 7
Correct reporting of the events, the maintenance of the database for the corrective actions that
are needed, and the maintenance of proper records related to the probable mishaps that may
take place are the key result areas. The presence of a database will help the policymakers of
the TTF to come up with the right policy based injunctions (Managing Risk of Plants in the
workplace code of Practice , 2013).
