4. Possible consequence of not implementing PM practices effectively Level of maturity may impact on the level of effectiveness of PM The organizational behavior is sophisticatedly reflected by the level of maturity that is present within the project. Evaluating several factors and areas of project management practices and standard that the organization operates in, the level of maturity is identified (Cagliano, Grimaldi, & Rafele, 2015). The major and most common factors that are used for identifying the maturity level includes project integration, resources, quality scope, duration and risks associated with the project. The five level of maturity includes: Level 1: Initial process– no structured and organized process Level 2: Structured Standard and Process– Basic discipline Level 3: Organizational Standard– uses tailored version of process Level 4: Managed– detailed processes focuses on quality Level 5: Optimizing– focus on continuous improvement of project quality Since the organization selected for this assignment is private and have only 5 years of organizations experience, the maturity level is detected as PMM 1. Therefore, it has been identified that the organization currently operates in a random manner and has little organization process for controlling and predating the risks. Therefore, even selecting an appropriate PM for the project, the Pm would have less impact on the project.
Your org. might have maturity, but what the PM is not being implemented effectively The selected organization is currently having level 1 maturity. The process and procedure followed for the project development is often chaotic and ad-hoc. The project success is often dependent on individual effort of the team members associated with the project considering all the processes of PM are well structured and defined. In case PM is not implemented in effective and efficient way, the project has a high chance of risk and failure. Görög, (2016) showed that the undertaken project is often at high risks of delaying the schedule and exceeding the budget.
