DISCIPLINE BASED ART EDUCATION
Question1:
Discipline-based art education is considered as a platform concerning the program of the
education which is being initiated by the J.Paul Getty Trust in the beginning years of the 1980s
(BASAK, 2017). According to this study, like the other subjects are seriously being studied, the
art should be studied seriously as well. Along with this, the four disciplines of art should be
included in the study of arts such as the art of history, criticism of skill, aesthetics and even the
production of the art (Agustin, 2016). The main purpose for which the discipline-based art
teaching was formulated was mainly to develop
The abilities of the student and even appreciate the art. This also includes the knowledge of the
theories as well as the settings of the art and capabilities so as to respond as well as create art.
Question 2:
The fact that the students must be made to understand the importance of the subject matter rather
than focusing on the academic knowledge is what resonated me from the study. As per the
course discipline-based art curriculum, learning of the student is being focused on and not on the
development of the student artistically. It helped the students not only to understand the concepts
and do well in the school, but it also helped the students to learn and excel well in life as well. As
a result, learning the theoretical frameworks of the course study to teach the studentsis what
resonated in me. It becomes the responsibility of the teachers like me to provide the foundation
of the knowledge that is being taught to the students.
