Questioning
I agree that questioning in lessons is the key aspect of teaching in a classroom as it brings
positive change and improvement. Putting the focus and valuing student's questions in class is
very imperative in supporting their higher level of thinking. The type and way in which we
utilize questions aspect in classroom setting require to carefully taken into account if we are
aimed to optimize the student’s potential. Evidently, in order to maintain a thought or a concept
active, teachers have to bring important changes by constantly asking questions (Van
Quaquebeke & Felps 2018, p.6). They are able to challenge existing students thinking. Research
indicates that language rich classroom settings provide a conducive environment for progressive
learning. By engaging students, their relatively high IQ will be tremendously improved and
maximize their ability to express their views and thoughts.
Knowledge and information retrieval is a significant aspect of embedding knowledge. Thus
regular quizzing has a great impact in the retention of knowledge imparted to students. Lower
cognitive questions play a big role in the development and embedding of core information that
students require to be able to optimally engage actively with higher cognitive questions.
The changes discussed in the article generate positive outcomes in a class. This is because
questioning in classrooms is important in developing interests and overall motivation of students
in order to become actively engaged in lessons. This reduces boredom in class and decreases the
chances of a student not paying attention to what is being taught. Through ability to manage the
class, teachers are able to review learning and evaluate main strategies required to efficiently run
the class. Consequently, questions are aimed to develop the critical thinking skills, creativity and
innovativeness in students. This enables teachers to improve the equality of the education system
(Van Quaquebeke & Felps 2018, p.10)
