Critical Thinking Answer 1 It is recommended to access the library databases over the open web for a source as they have enhanced accuracy and reliability. These databases are the indexed collections of journals, articles, whitepapers, etc. that are obtained from the publishers and are also licensed for distribution in the online format. Also, these databases are more focussed on the scholarly books and articles and provide these sources in ample numbers which may not be available on the other sources (Ed, 2019). Answer 2 Boolean Operators are the simple terms which are used as conjunctions to carry out a search operation and the refine the same. The three main Boolean operators are AND, OR, and NOT.AND operator is used by joining the terms/keywords in the search operation to narrow down the search results. OR operator is used by joining the related terms wherein the results have either or all the terms. NOT is usedto exclude a specific term from the search results (Encinas & Rey, 2018). Answer 3 In the present times, there are rich graphics and content being used to design video games that are played by the people of all age groups. Video games can be addictive and are gradually taking over people’s lives. The video games designers and developers tend to design the games in such a manner that people keep coming back to the game. For instance, Pokemon Go, an augmented reality- based mobile video game resulted in multiple car accidents and deaths as the players got too engrossed in the game. 2
Critical Thinking Pokemon Go AR-based mobile game There are negative effects of addictive video game on the kids and the youth, such as isolation from others, restlessness when unable to play, eye strain and weakening of the eyesight, obesity, migraines, and slower child development. It has also been recorded that over 41% of the video-game players choose these games to escape from reality which contributes to depression and ill-effects on the mental health (Weigle, 2014). Reasons for game playing It has also been found out that 1-10% of the gamers suffer from compulsive addiction disorders. World Health Organization (WHO) found these statistics with 3-4% in their own investigations (Gamequitters, 2019). Addiction to the video games can result in significant impairment to personal and professional lives. Answer 4 Work-life balance is desired by all the working professionals and there are now ways that the working class people can adopt to spend more time with their families. The use of technology, such as cloud computing and virtual networking can enable the majority of the employees to work remotely. The working class people can now work from home and remain close to their families. Most of the organizations have also adopted the scheme of flexible working hours which can be utilized by the working class to set their schedule as per the schedule of the other members in the family. There are also off-days and leaves that are a part of every worker profile which shall be utilized wisely to give time to the family. 3

Critical Thinking Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD) is a scheme that allows the employees to bring their personal devices at work. The employees can use these devices to carry out the professional tasks. BYOD Working These devices can then be taken home and the use of the same can be done to carry out the professional activities. In this manner, remote working can become easier and work-life balance can also be maintained by the employees (Isaacs, 2016). Many organizations also promote recruitment of spouses and family members in the same organizations for enhanced worker satisfaction. Answer 5 It is often observed that smart and intelligent people lack common sense. Intelligent people have a tendency to over-think and over-analyse every situation. They often apply analytical and logical reasoning concepts in the scenarios that usually do not demand the same. The lack of common sense in the intelligent people is therefore, because their general intelligence overrides the same. Dr Matt Taylor has achieved commendable achievements in the space history and is considered as a genius in the field. However, his family believes him to lack in common sense (Kealey, 2014). High Intelligence Quotient (IQ) can also lead to excessive need to defend. It is also seen that intelligent people keep on arguing and defending themselves and seldom consider the opinions and perspectives of the others. They are usually not good at understanding the point of view of the others. Abstract analysis is another reason that leads to the lack of common sense in the intelligent people. Such analysis may be useful in domain-specific problem- 4
Critical Thinking solving; however, it is of no good in the social, psychological, and general problem resolution processes (Charlton, 2009). This creates a barrier between the people with average IQ levels that tend to score better on the parameters of common sense as compared to the ones with higher IQ levels. References Charlton, B. (2009). Clever sillies: Why high IQ people tend to be deficient in common sense.Medical Hypotheses,73(6), 867-870. doi: 10.1016/j.mehy.2009.08.016 Ed. (2019). About Library databases.
