RACIAL DISCRIMINATION AND MAJORITY CULTURE
The sociological study refers to the racial discrimination and majority culture of the
North America, especially in Canadian culture which has been chosen for the research. Racism is
one of ideologies of society that believes human beings can be segregated into various groups
based on their individual races (Haque and Patrick 2015). These are characterized by the
inheritance and the indigenous category of Canadian people which is unchanged. Through the
aspects of racism, there are regional inequalities in society between the white and black
Canadians. The racism in thought process usually involves three wrong prejudices that includes,
the biological characteristics sets a limit to the kind of culture a specific group may evolve.
Secondly, that the differences in biological aspects are somehow equating with the differences in
culture and finally, the biological aspects determine the group cultural achievement (Paradies
2016). The research paper contains the elements of the objective why there is a need to carry this
research on racial discrimination and majority culture, a suitable thesis statement, and theories
and counter arguments about the racial discrimination, organizational schemes and key analysis
of the research.
The objective of this research paper involves in sketching the outline the societal
ideology of racism prevalent in the regions of Canada of North America. This is a review on the
discrimination challenges faced by the Canadian indigenous group of people in the society,
including, the organizational discrimination among the employees and trade union and especially
in the health care received by the biased racial or the patients who are ethnic minority (Bailey
2016). The objective is also to find out the effects of the interpersonal and institutional racism.
These people are the sufferer of unequal rates of morbidity and mortality of chronic ailments like
heart diseases, stroke, cancer and diabetes. The racism and aspects of discrimination in the health
care is the consequence of improper lifestyles and depriving off a proper accessibility to health

care and inadequate means of earning livelihood and for the reason of poor economic status. The
objectivity of this research paper revolves around the discrimination being done on the basis of
just the body color and that is what related to the levels of discrimination on their part. Due to
this, they are been scaled on the low measurements of performance. They are been compared to
the white colored people and most often they are subjected to the points of discrimination regard
all the positives of the society (Mullings, Morgan and Quelleng 2016). They are often treated as
the separate class of people and are deprived off from most of the facilities. This has been
defined as the most distinguished treatment based on the race that the Canadian people mostly
have and that is what affects the group by creating the disadvantages to the people. The treatment
is also done based on the insufficient factors of things offered to these people keeping them
deprived off several amenities of society. The objectives are based on the recent results that have
come up with authentic data information of the across nation polling from the United States that
stated, 74% of the total population are African Americans and that 69% are the non-Whites
residents and 30% of the people are Whites (Paradies 2016). These people have reported about
their personal experiences based on racism and its related factors of discrimination. The specific
objectives is to address the following questions:
1. What are the methods of research to find out how to measure the issues of discrimination?
2. What are the specific issues related to health care Canadian people have to face because of
racial discrimination?
3. Does the discrimination on the basis of racism, class, background and cultural issues have seen
an undaunted change in the modernity?

4. How does the racial discrimination influence the standard of living of the people who are
victims of this issue?
5. What government measures have been taken in favor or against of the racial discrimination?
6. How effective are the systems like institutional practices, policies and regulations contributes
to the racism and issues of discrimination.
The aim of this essay is to illustrate the healthcare received by the racial group with
respect to the racial discrimination and majority culture.
The main issues out of racial discrimination is the communal fights and civil unrest in
society. The charge of the creating prejudices and racism is from the Whites in the society
towards the Blacks and this creates a thin barrier to everything and distorts the ultimate harmony
(Clair and Denis 2015). These racism activities leads to societal separation and results in creating
groups and separations. This hampers the thought process of the society and often leads to
separation of social groups. The arguments raised in the Memphis newspaper in the year 2012
on 28th of March regarding the Martin/Zimmerman case and several months before this verdict
first by the communist who is black, namely, Walter E. Williams and the another Frank
Cerabino, the Whites. The argument raised of that if any of the Whites, was being murdered by
one of the Blacks who used to serve on the Neighborhood Watch, then might be the case was
virtually reversed and the shooter would have been supposed to be immediately arrested (Haque
and Patrick 2015). Cerabino gave it a thought if it would be the case where the shooter
Zimmerman had been a black guy and Martin White would have been the shooter then he would
have been convicted without the bail. The argument arrives onto that, the society is actually
encouraging factors of racial discrimination more than anything and more than the way it claims.

RACIAL DISCRIMINATION AND MAJORITY CULTURE
In the further arguments, Williams from the Whites category throws the question to the society
that why there is a discrimination and biasness regarding the black and young which has a
resemblance with the crime and suspicion (Paradies 2016). Moreover to this, the Whites carried a
belief that these two on the equal terms is not always based on the factors of racism, on a more
often, it is based on the categories representing risks based on higher and lower terms. The
racism is so much in practice that, the blacks are treated something as untouchables that even in
that region, the drivers, delivery persons and other as such who works in the low strata category
of jobs also deny certain Black neighborhoods on their priority basis, for their security reasons
(Bailey 2016). The people over there are concerned about the safety measures with regards to the
Blacks. The people there often relate the Blacks with the crimes happening in their regions. They
personify these black males as one who can cause harm to the society. This was a strong
argument proposed by the people of North America and have been carried for years. The people
who are dark complexioned often deny to all the facilities related to the health care settings.
They are mostly deprived of the medicines and treatments in due course of their needs and the
basic health care (Haque and Patrick 2015). Mostly the problem is faced by the old people who
need the care and medical attention. This need exists for the urgent medical cases and also to the
nomads of that region. The theories of racial discrimination are,
Ecological theory that includes, the migrated country often brings people from varied
backgrounds resulting in not equal relationships and with distinctive phenomenal scopes.
In the competitive relations of the people they become conscious about creating relations
on the basis of the status in society. And generally, the people with high status do not
consider doing keeping relations with indigenous people (Paradies 2016). The biasness is

promoted by the Whites to keep their interest and reinforcement of the societal structure.
This theory is coincided by, Robert E. Park.
The theory of Intentional and explicit discrimination, discovered by Gordon Allport in
regard of the prejudices and discriminations out of which people cannot enjoy various
relationships in the society and become prejudiced for the people with a negativity in
mind towards them (Haque and Patrick 2015). This includes few factors of behaviour as
in, verbal antagonism, ignorance, separation, physical attacks and exterminations. These
types of awful behaviors create extremely hostile environment for the people who have
been targeted as the racial group.
The theory of Subtle, unconscious, automatic discrimination which is more explicit and
directed towards intense hostility (Mullings, Morgan and Quelleng 2016). This results in
the modern conflicts and group dynamics and reflection of the racist behaviors. It creates
conflicts among the people and which in return shapes up those people’s responses in
respect to the cognitive, affective and the behavioral aspects.
The theory of Statistical Discrimination which is another method of having adverse
consequences of relatively harsh levels of discrimination that has the negative impact on
the racial groups of society. This theory when applied to the organizations, then it holds a
common notion that includes, if there is any employee having criminal records it must be
a black citizen, on an average (Clair and Denis 2015). This is the universal understanding
that blacks are more prone to have crimes in their record list as compared to any of the
Whites employee. Even the employer judge people on the same grounds and even in the
interview rounds of new employees they judge them on the basis of their groups and not
by their individual capability. The discrimination is illegal on the grounds of interviews

and hiring candidates. Earlier it was the situation when, the overt racism and explicit
exclusion of laws encourage segregations of the residential.
The organizational scheme of the racial discrimination includes the seriousness for all
the organization regarding the fact that the issue of discrimination must be treated on a serious
level. The decisions makers of the organization must note that there should not be any
discrimination of any employee on the basis of racism, caste, creed, religions and gender. As for
example, in the year 2000, the Coca Cola has resolved the lawsuit against the racial class action
discrimination with the penalty of $192.5 million (Bailey 2016). Another example of the
Advantica Restaurant Group, Inc., also settled down the case filed for the racial discrimination
lawsuit for $54.4 million in the year 1994. The companies had to change their policies and
structures of and encouraged employees that discrimination of an employee by other employees
is a criminal offence and if caught involving in that would he highly penalized.
To provide simplifications on this matter of disputes and conflicts the organizations have
started implementing the open-systems modes of organizations (Haque and Patrick 2015).
Therefore, the environmental factors like, the legal, economic and social environmental aspects
serve input to most of the organizations those have relevance to the phenomena of the theories of
discrimination.
The organizations nowadays promote cultural diversity within company premises. They
encourage and find talents from the corners of the world to get the best talents and employees to
their organization. This organizational scheme believes that people coming from different
cultures will bring different taste to the working culture. The talent secretion would be more as
the people bring together different working attitude at the same place (Haque and Patrick 2015).

RACIAL DISCRIMINATION AND MAJORITY CULTURE
Due to the cultural diversity scheme, organizations are increasing in creativity sections and
regular innovations and development strategies.
The analysis of this essay in terms of the sociological issue of racial discrimination is a
very painful practice for those who are the victimized racial group. The racism is a social
ideology that is very much prevalent in practice in Canada in the parts of the North America. The
discrimination theories are the reflection of different types of the biased behavior towards the
Blacks by the Whites of that nation. It can go harsh and inhuman to the people and as discussed
before, the discrimination done on the healthcare systems directed towards these indigenous
people is really miserable. For people who are marginalized, there is no benefit to be received
from healthcare systems. While it is true that it is the system of universal healthcare that is
followed in the countries of North America, such as United States of America and Canada,
people who belong to marginalized groups, including racial minorities and colored people are
often faced with discrimination when they go to a hospital or a clinic to receive medical
assistance or treatment. Black people in particular have always been at the receiving end of
discriminatory behavior in America, often being denied medical treatment by white doctors and
white nursing personnel even in dire situations where critical medical care and attention could
have saved the life of a black man. Of course as is evident from the examples that have been
discussed in this assignment, organizations are playing an active role in bringing about a
reduction in racial discrimination. There are many organizations across the length and breadth of
the United States of America that follow strict policies and practices with regard to the
prevention of racial discrimination with employees of such organizations being very severely
penalized in the event that they are found to be engaging in discriminatory practices. Yet the
negative practice of discriminatory behavior on grounds of race and religion still exists in

pockets in North America, and research has to be conducted to see what methods and techniques
ought to be deployed by organizations and institutions in North America that will prevent the
marginalization of people on racial grounds. An attempt should specifically be made to see and
ascertain the facts that trigger racist behavior towards segregated or colored people and the ways
and means by which such anger and hostility on the part of those generating racism, can be
brought to an end. By doing so, ways and means of reducing racial discrimination in America
can be drawn up and implemented with a greater degree of clarity.
On a concluding note, the organizational schemes for challenges of racial
discrimination faced by the employees give them the sense of security and equal spaces just like
others. The Government is considering all humans the same and incorporating equal laws.
Government is actively looking after the healthcare issues and the scenario is believe to be
changed in few progressing years.
