INTRODUCTION
Small stories are a part of one's life. Reading and writing is drilled inside an individual
from a very early age. The ability to sense different themes and messages is a way to open up a
different way of thinking. There are so many books being published which help the reader to
learn something new. This report is the reading about the book named The road to Wigan pier.
the writer of this book is George Orwell (Orwell, 2021). The purpose of this report is to find the
context of the book and learn about the background and perspective of the book. The
methodology and the methods used by the writers are discussed along with the legacy carried by
the book.

Context of the book
The writer wrote this book George Orwell the book The road Wigan Pier in the form of
an essay social criticism and showing the outstanding support to the democratic socialism. The
book was divided into two parts (Dinçer, 2018). The first half of the book is based on the
sociological investigations on the living conditions of the working class people based in the
industrial north of England. The second half of the book is related to the middle class upbringing
and the development of the political conscience while raising a question to the British regarding
socialism. He focused the attention of the book to experiences of unemployed miners of north
England which ends in criticism of existing social movements. The situations was bad as the
lower class people were treated badly in the social context. The book was part of the genre
autobiography. The descriptions of the human experience and the details about all the events
have made in details and has made a strong impact on telling a story. The political context of the
book is that communism is normal. The reading of the book is very brutal for enjoyment.
The author
George Orwell is the pen name of Eric Arthur Blair was an English novelist, essayist and
journalist who was known for his social critique, opposite to totalitarianism and the vocal
support to the democratic socialism(Babb, 2017). He was born in the British India, with father as
a minor British official. He was determined to produce literary criticism and polemical
journalism. The road to Wigan is one of his non fictional work which depicts the experience of
