Recycling of Paper 2
Introduction
My action priority is paper recycle for environmental sustainability to lead a healthy lifestyle.
I am working at a child care centre where lots of papers are being used and wasted. I want to
change the entire paper-based system in the child care centre, and I want to bring computer-
based system as an electronic communication system to successfully recycle the paper. In
other words, recycling of paper includes an outstanding potential. By recycling the paper,
valuable resources can be formulated as a source of raw materials.
Moreover, recycling of paper can decrease the amount of wastage to a landfill for making
sustainable resource usage. My rationale includes a pollution free environment to influence a
stable and healthy life for all. I am making this change
because millions of trees are being cut down to produce
paper. I want to save those trees which produce oxygen
for us, and that's why I want to change the entire paper-
based system from the child care centre (Barnham, 2015).
I at this moment analyzed different week activities to protect the environment by taking
initiative for recycling the paper wastages at the child care centre.
Research paragraphs
A human cannot live without a healthy environment and trees help to formulate a healthy
environment by providing oxygen. Trees are also consuming carbon dioxide that causes
global warming and other pollutions to harm the environment. On the other hand, trees are
the main source of the paper manufacturing process. Also, 20 full-grown tresses are used to
produce a tonne of paper. Recycling the paper is very helpful to increase the sustainable
resources of the earth. 74% less air pollution and 35% less water pollution could be done by

recycling the paper. In this way, 4100 kWh
electricity, 17 full-grown trees, 1500 liters
water and 2.5 barrel of oil can be saved by
recycling of one tonne of paper. Due to above-
mentioned reasons, I am going to do
implement a paper recycling process in the
child care center.
Week 1
In this week, I decided to avoid buying packaged products that increase environment
pollution. To conduct an action plan, I gave instructions to the security guard of the child care
centre (Barnham, 2015). I told him to check the service quality of courier service. I controlled
the packaged goods purchasing in our child care centre by providing instruction to the
security guard. After implementing this course of action regarding excessively packaged
goods, noticed few changes in the child care centre. According to my experience, I gathered
critical reflection from my colleagues in the child care centre. In this way, most of my
colleagues prefer to purchase packaged products that contain paper and car board. By making
awareness among my group members, I think environmental pollution can be reduced. I
started to observe the behavior of my colleagues regarding the restriction of excessively
packaged goods. Few group members supported my action plan to limit the usage of
excessively packaged goods. In other words, few environment concerned colleagues of the
child care centre agreed with my course of action to limit the usage of excessively packaged
goods.
On the other hand, few intellectual and self-concerned employees of child care centre did not
accept my proposal, and they continue to purchase excessively packaged goods. I faced many
challenges in this week to create awareness for recycling paper among those team members

who did not support my course of action. Moreover, I did not experience any surprises during
the action plan for this Week 1 activity.
Week 2
In this week, I decided to avoid disposable cup and plate that increase environment pollution.
To conduct an action plan, I gave instructions to the canteen manager of the child care centre.
I told him to use only reusable cup and plates instead of using disposable cup and plate
(Raven & Berg, 2012). I controlled the usage of disposable cup and plates in our child care
centre by providing instruction to the canteen manager. Several incidents were happened in
the child care centre after implementing this course of action regarding the usage of reusable
cup and plates. According to my experience, I gathered critical reflection from my colleagues
in the child care centre. In this way, most of my colleagues prefer to use disposable cup and
plate that influence environment pollution. Recycling of paper could be successful by making
awareness among my group members for reusable cup and plates. I started to observe the
behavior of my colleagues during the launch time. Few group members supported my action
plan to use reusable cup and plates instead of using disposable cup and plate. In other words,
few environment concerned colleagues of the child care centre agreed with my course of
action to use reusable cup and plates during launch time.
On the other hand, few intellectual and self-concerned employees of child care centre did not
accept my proposal, and they continue to feed by using reusable cup and plates. In this way, I
tried to convince my team members to use reusable cup and plates instead of using a
disposable cup and plate for implementing the recycling process of paper wastages (Taylor,
2015). In this week, I decided to aware my colleagues to recycle the paper. To conduct an
action plan, I requested to all my office colleagues to recycle paper. According to my

experience, I gathered a very good response from my
colleagues regarding waste paper recycling in the child
care centre.
Week 3
In this week, I decided to keep a paper bin particularly
next to photocopies or printers that reduce environmental
pollution. I requested to all my officemates or colleagues of the child care centre to formulate
an action plan. I told them to recycle the waste paper by putting them in recycle bin made by
paper. I controlled the paper waste in our child care centre through keeping a paper bin.
Several incidents were happened in the child care centre after implementing this course of
action as keeping a paper bin beside photocopies or printers. According to my experience, I
gathered critical reflection from my colleagues in the child care centre (Walker, 2014). In this
way, most of my colleagues prefer to use plastic bin because it's durable and long-lasting.
Recycling of paper could be successful by making awareness among my group members
about the significance of paper bin. I started to observe the behavior of my colleagues
regarding the implication of paper bin for collecting paper wastages. Few group members
supported my action plan to keep a paper bin for recycling the waste papers. In other words,
few environment concerned colleagues of the child care centre agreed with my course of
action as a proposal of a paper bin.
On the other hand, few intellectual and self-concerned employees of child care centre did not
accept my proposal, and they continue to use plastic dustbin. Therefore, I also faced
challenges regarding the replacement process of an old plastic bin with new paper bin, for
example, wetting issue (Swain, 2015). In this way, most of my colleagues prefer to recycle
paper wastages for making the environment pure. I started to observe the adaptability of my
colleagues regarding the waste paper recycling process. Few group members who have

environmental knowledge supported my action plan and started to recycle waste papers
(Rouet, 2015).
Week 4
In this week, I decided to pay our bills via phone or email that is not anymore cheaper than
postage. I requested to all my colleagues and officemates about my eco-friendly concept for
paying electricity and phone bills. Also, I also requested everyone to use online payment for
reducing cash transaction. I controlled the cash transaction in our child care centre through
implementing an online payment system for making bill payments. Several incidents were
happened in the child care centre after implementing this course of action regarding an online
transaction. According to my experience, I gathered mixed critical reflection from my
colleagues in the child care centre. In this way, most of my colleagues prefer to use
traditional way for making cash payment by visiting counter. Recycling of paper could be
successful by making awareness among my group members to adopt the online payment
system. I started to observe the behavior of my colleagues regarding the instruction of online
payment by email or phone. Few group members supported my action plan to pay bills
through emails and phone (Gualdoni et al., 2017). In other words, few environment
concerned colleagues of the child care centre agreed with my course of action and ready to
adopt the online payment system.
On the other hand, few intellectual and self-concerned employees of child care centre did not
accept my proposal, and they continue to follow the traditional bill desk counter to pay bills
via cash transaction. Regarding challenges, few employees of the child care centre are very
scared about cybercriminals and online hackers, and that's why they did not prefer to adopt an
online payment system. In other words, few environment concerned colleagues of the child
care centre agreed with my course of action. I faced certain challenges to increase the
knowledge of environmental protection by recycling the paper. In this way, most of my

colleagues did not prefer to purchase products made by recycled paper. Recycled paper made
products could be very useful to reduce the pollution rate.
Week 5
In this week, I decided to use both sides of the paper for any paperwork that might reduce the
waste of paper. To conduct an action plan, I decided to make awareness among my team
members to use both sides of the paper. I also requested them to check carefully each paper
(both sides) before taking a new fresh sheet. I controlled a waste of papers in our child care
centre by requesting every colleague to use both sides of the paper instead of just one side.
Several incidents were happened in the child care centre after implementing this course of
action. According to my experience, I gathered critical reflection from my colleagues in the
child care centre. In this way, most of my colleagues prefer to use only one side of the paper
due to a bad reflection of ink. Reducing the waste of paper could be successful by making
awareness among my group members (Parker & Lichtenstein, 2015). I started to observe the
behavior of my colleagues regarding the request of using both sides of the paper.
Along with that, a few group members supported my action plan to use both sides of the
paper. In other words, few environment concerned colleagues of the child care centre agreed
with my course of action to use both sides of the paper.
On the other hand, few intellectual and self-concerned employees of child care centre did not
accept my proposal, and they continue to use only one side of the paper. I faced trouble to
create awareness among these orthodox people who believe that ink reflection can destroy the
information of the paper. On the other hand, I requested to every office colleagues to
purchase products made by the recycled paper (Omelayenko & Klein, 2016). According to
my experience, I analyzed that, my colleagues in the child care centre always not supporting
me. I started to observe the purchasing behavior of my colleagues regarding the products

made by recycled paper. Few group members supported my action plan to purchase products
made by the recycled paper. In other words, few environment concerned colleagues of the
child care centre agreed with my course of action, and they decided to purchase products
made by the recycled paper.
Final reflection/Conclusion
I have gathered different types of information during these week learning activities and
observe the behaviour of my colleagues. I realized that, few people are concerned about the
paper to recycle process, and they always supported my action. I felt very proud of having
this kind of people at my workplace. The environment of the workplace is also developed
through conversations regarding the environment pollution and global warming. I also
determined that, people around us are also facing many issues, like family and children. Due
to certain reasons, they cannot take a direct initiative to change the entire process. I need
moral support from these types of people who might have lack of time but full
encouragement to protect the environment. On the other hand, the entire process of recycling
the paper wastages affected my thinking power and adaptability. This transformative
approach as recycling of paper changed my point of view regarding paper wastages and
recycling. I assumed that my colleagues would understand my feelings and concern about the
environment. In other words, I need the support of my officemates to successfully conduct
each action plan My workplace as child care centre also involves a favourable and sustainable
environment to implement each action plan that I discussed in the above segments. I strongly
believe that I could not do all action plans without the support of my colleagues and team
members in the child care centre. In contrast, my previous thought was based on professional
success, but now I am more focused on the environment protection.
