Reflection on US Government: Obligations, Parties, Rights, and Duties

This report provides a reflection on the obligations of the United States government, focusing on its responsibility to protect citizens' rights as outlined in the Bill of Rights and to maintain the union. Obligation
The government of the united states is obligated to acknowledge, preserve and keep protecting
the citizen’s rights as outlined in the Bill of Rights. Additionally, it is obligated to maintain and
protect the union to preserve those rights (Holcombe, 2020). For this to happen, it must try its
level best to protect against vices like corruption, protect trade, maintain defenses and maintain
international treaties.
Examples
One of the example is that the country has been protecting itself against corruption, thus the
reason behind maintenance of power separation between federal government’s three branches as
well as power division between the state government and the federal government (Du Bey, Fuller
& Miner, 2019). The other example is that the state has been and continues to maintain the
defenses. Through the military, the state has ensured and continues to ensure that its citizens get
the best protection and security possible. We have seen that the state has been on the alert against
any form of terrorist attack in the region to keep its people and the nations safe.
Position of the parties
The two major parties in the united states have fulfilled several functions that are critical to the
state performance. One of the most profound function is that they coordinate between the
citizens with common political ideologies and the public officials. In other words, the
government and the citizens (Katharina.kiener-manu, n.d.). On the other hand, the third party
(Libertarian party) has been on the verge of promoting civil liberties, laissez-faire, non-
interventionalism and participating in limiting the scope and the size of the government (Rosino,
& Hughey, (2016). The party generally participates in promoting classical liberal platform as

compared to the other two major parties which focus on liberalism and progressivism for
Democratic party, and conservatism for the Republican Party.
