Reflection on Developing a Project

The discussion in this reflection is based on the lessons learnt from the use of project management tools and techniques for the development aspects of the project. This project is based on developing a plan and also discussing about the key concepts that have been learnt from the development aspects of the plan over the project. The project discusses the designing of a plan based on renovating a Beachside Cottage that is being developed for the benefits of the tourists. With the impact of project management concepts, it would be highly helpful for the developing of a project plan and discussing other key concepts that have been developed during the course of my learning.

The discussion in this reflection is based on the lessons learnt from the use of project
management tools and techniques for the development aspects of the project. This project is
based on developing a plan and also discussing about the key concepts that have been learnt from
the development aspects of the plan over the project. The project discusses the designing of a
plan based on renovating a Beachside Cottage that is being developed for the benefits of the
tourists. With the impact of project management concepts, it would be highly helpful for the
developing of a project plan and discussing other key concepts that have been developed during
the course of my learning.
During the development of the project, I have been able to learn many new concepts in
relation to project management. I had formed a group with my team members in order to develop
each of the aspects in a structured manner. The situation discussed in this reflective essay is
based on describing my experience over the development of the concerned project. In this
project, I and my friends have discussed over the aspects of development of the schedule over
the project. We have found the key activities that would be highly necessary for designing the
project in a structured manner. I have also defined the resources that have would be essential to
be used for the proper development of the project. Each of the resources have been properly
identified based on their emerging needs over the project. We have also designed the Gantt chart
by assigning responsibilities to each resources. In this project plan, we have also learnt for
designing the budget for the project. During the design of budget for the project, I had made
several assumptions and real-life examples for implementing within the project.
Before the development of the project, we have learnt about the use of different concepts
in relation to project management. the concepts in relation to project management discusses over
the use of various kind of tools, techniques and ideas based on developing each of the minute

aspects of any concerned project. During the development of ideas and applying of concepts in
relation to the project, I have been highly helped with the use of project management theories.
The use of such kind of theories have hugely guided me in developing every kind of aspect in
relation to the project. The project has been assigned a particular budget and we had to define the
project accordingly. Hence, a proper planning for assigning costs to each resources had to be
discussed and defined properly. We also had to design the different activities in relation to the
project based on assigning each resource with the costs and thus completing the entire project
within the estimated budget.
Based on the conduction of the project, I had engaged into each of the aspects that had
been defined in the previous report. I had defined the number of resources that might be required
for the conduction of different related project activities. I have discussed with my team members
and have thus assigned the factors of responsibility, accountability, consult and informed to each
of the resources within the project. Under each of the sections, the different resources have been
assigned with particular responsibilities that they need to do during each of the phases of the
project. The schedule for the project had also been defined and made as per assumptions towards
the project. With the help of the Gantt chart, I have been able to clear and proper understanding
about each of the aspects in relation to the project. In the second schedule, I have defined the
AoN method for discussing over each of the critical activities that have been defined for the
project.
After the discussion over the above factors, I have defined and developed a progress
report that discuss over several aspects in relation to the project plan. I have defined the timeline
for the project. This timeline has been defined after the preparation of the Gantt chart for the
project. This report discusses over the Milestone 3, which was delayed and also describes the

reason for the delay. It also puts focus over the corrective action that could be taken in order to
bring positive impacts towards the project. During the progress over the project, I have also
learnt for the use of Earned Value Management (EVM) systems that have been used within this
project in order to help the project managers for executing of various estimations over the
project. The use of EVM technique could be defined as a way for determining realistic and actual
data. Based on the gathered data, I have performed a detailed analysis over the EVM technique.
During the project, I have also applied the technique for change management within the
project. This process has been helpful for determining the various forms of changes that might
affect the project. I have also formed a table that underlines the ways in which a needed change
would be executed. I have also determined the person who would be responsible for the change,
the topic covered the change, raised issues and the defined conclusions. I have also defined risk
management strategies, stakeholder analysis matrix and stakeholder prioritization matrix. I have
defined the ways in which project closure could be made for the concerned project.
Based on the discussed aspects of the project, I have concluded that this project has been
highly helpful for increasing my knowledge domain over project management. I have learnt
various aspects in relation to this project. I have studied through various books based on project
management and have learnt of the ways in which the knowledge could be applied in several
regions of the project. I would also like to mention that during the works over the project, I have
been highly been helpful by my team as they have also helped me in designing the project. I feel
very happy as I have gained knowledge and could apply them to the project.
