1REFLECTION ON ENGLISH LEARNING
English learning has been a challenge for me and now I am fluent in the language like a
native English speaker. The decision of being a writer and that too using English as a medium
has been advised to me against most of my close ones. However I had taken the risk and I am
today a successful writer, having a brand name and earning pretty much well through it. In this
particular piece of reflective writing I shall be penning down my journey as a non English
speaker to a successful writer meandering through the difficulties and challenges to the path of
success. This is supposed to be the thesis statement of this piece of writing. In this particular
piece of reflective writing I shall be writing about the struggles which I have faced in my journey
and also shall be providing a critical assessment of the course which I had taken in order to
realize my cherished dream of learning English and also becoming a writer bagging ample
amount of success.
There have been a lot of challenges which I have had to overcome in order to not just
become a writer using English as a medium, but also in the path of learning the language itself.
However there are challenges that remain to which I am looking forward to a solution for the
sake of creating benefits out of it and deconstructing it as a challenge (Macewan.ca, 2019). I
come from a very humble background, wherein we literally had to struggle to sustain ourselves
and belonging to a third world nation, English learning was seen as a luxury which only the rich
could afford. In fact the feeling among the people belonging to my nationality was that of
English being the sole prerogative of the rich class, and not of the ordinary people like us. We
have English medium schools in our nation but they were only meant for the rich ones who could
pay for the fees, naturally I never had the opportunity to go to such a school but that however did
not dampen my spirit to learn the language and rise up high in the social hierarchy.
