1REFLECTION ON O*NET SKILLS SEARCH O*Net is an occupational Information Network. In this website one can see there are six categories all of which contains a set of skills. The purpose of the study is to select some skills from categories like-Basic, Social, Complex Problem Solving, Resource Management Skills. Further this study attempts to reflect on the information gathered about the jobs matching the selected skills. This section also mentions things learnt through this skill search. The conclusion section of this study sums up the entire reflection. There are several skills in the O*Net website, from which I have chosen the skills I have. The skills chosen from the basic category are- active learning, critical thinking and monitoring. The skill selected from Complex Problem Solving is the identification of the complex problems and review of the related information, developing as well as evaluating options and also attempts to implement solution. The skills selected from the category of Resource Management Skills are- Management of financial resources, Management of personal resources, Time management. The skills selected from the category of Social Skills are-coordination as well as negotiation (Onetonline.org 2019). I found that the first job that matches the set of skills selected by me is the job of a Chief executive. From the description of the task I have learnt that, the role of a chief executive is to direct or coordinate budget as well as other financial activities of an organization. Chief executives also take the responsibility to appoint department heads, analyze operation, evaluate performance, determiningareaswhereexpensescanbereduced, findingoutareasof improvement, formulating and implementing policies. A masters or Ph.D. is required along with 5 years of experience are essential for achieving the capability to hold the position of a chief executive of an organization. Next job that I found compatible to the skill set chosen by me is the job of Treasurers and Controllers. In this I need to supervise the performance of the employees,
2REFLECTION ON O*NET SKILLS SEARCH specially the performance of those who conduct financial reporting, accounting, billing as well as collections. As a Treasurer and Controller, I need to direct all the planning regarding the management of financial resources, budget, procurement as well as investment activities. Apart from a master’s degree or Ph.D. degree holder, I need to pursue 5 to 7 years of on-job training before taking the responsibilities of a Treasurer and Controller(Onetonline.org 2019). Finally, I found that the next job which is matching with all the skills is the job of an Education Administrator. From the O*Net website I learnt that, the role of an Education Administrator is to evaluate the curricula, formulate and implement teaching methods as well as programs, assess and determine the effectiveness of the teaching methods and standardize curricula and also making sure that the activities of the school comply with the rules and regulations implemented by the Federal as well as State Government(Onetonline.org 2019). I come to know from the website that, I can hold the position of an education administrator, if I pursue a master's degree, or a Ph.D., M.D., or J.D. I learnt that holding a higher degree will not be enough for the post, I should have 5 years of experience along with an-on-job training.
