REFLECTION ON PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Project Management is the use of methods, talent, experience, procedures and
understanding to accomplish certain goals set for the project within established parameters. I, for
one, was a part of a project called ‘The Business consequences of Excessive Work’ which was
conducted for a period of 1.5 years.
It is common to our knowledge, handling a project has a time constraint and a fixed
budget, so the method adopted by us for the above mentioned project was the benefit
measurement method and the agile project management process (Kerzner, 2017). This approach
was particularly taken up because it analyses the possible benefits amongst the different projects
carried out in the similar area and then selects the most valuable ones. It is necessary to know the
significance of what an extra work load does on its employees. In my opinion, it does not only
affect their morale but also the health of employees.
Another equally important matter to be considered is the project management process.
According to my opinion, there are five key steps where the first step is where the project
actually commences showing that there exists a need for it to be conducted (Spundak, 2014).
This is then followed by planning and execution of the scheduled tasks. During the process, it is
crucial to monitor and evaluate the progress. Once the requirements are achieved and delivered,
it is time to close the project.
