INTRODUCTION
Human resource management refers to the strategic method which help in managing
peoples effectively in an organisation so that they help competitive advantage. HR department
conduct various activities such as design employees benefits, design training and development
activities, performance appraisal and so on (Griggs and et.al., 2015). The organisation taken in
this assignment is Amazon, it is founded by Jeff Bezos in year 1994. They offer variety of
products like books, electronic items, clothing, accessories and so on at worldwide market.
Under this assignment a reflection on the basis effectiveness of HRM strategies and further
recommendations are included.
MAIN BODY
Overview of Case Study
In our case study, we done examination and evaluation of HR role in employee
engagement and employees motivation. Which is not done properly in Amazon Company, HR of
company not listen to employees problems and issues. The respective organisation is facing poor
HR management such as there is not proper reward system. Amazon is founded by Jeff Bezos in
year 1994. It is started with an online book store but now they are dealing in multiple other
divisions (Anderson, 2013). Such divisions are clothing, personal care products, accessories,
electronic items, video game, software, toys, jewellery and so on. They offer their products in
worldwide market through online medium. While studying case I able to know that they are
facing major problem related to employees engagement and nature of HR which directly affect
their productivity and profitability. In this case study, we highlight the problems face by
respective company when there is poor HR management. HR management is essential for every
company and it help company in dealing with issues related to staff performance, compensation,
engagement, safety, benefits, training and so on. They plays important role in managing people
and culture or environment of workplace.
When Amazon Company conduct Human resource management or activities in effective
manner they can attain their objective in appropriate manner. Human resource management is
essential for an organisation in various ways such as managers can hire appropriate employees
according to task, design effective training and development programmes, maintain positive
working environment and many more (Chelladurai and Kerwin, 2017). While studying the report

of respective company we able to understand that their HR manager is not able to managing
work culture or workplace in effective manner. This will happen because they are not able to do
employees engagement activities in effective manner which directly and indirectly affect staff
performance and productivity of an organisation. HR of respective company can solve this
problem by conducting following method such as they can reward employees according to
performance, they can conduct training and development activities and so on.
Additionally by understanding the case of Amazon, that they are facing major challenges
in employees engagement and also HR not play their duties in effective manner. According to
me they can resolve their problems by attaining methods like they make rules for both employers
or HR as well as for employees. By this there is no discrimination will be done to anyone and
everyone know there duties in appropriate manner. According to the situation I want to do
recommendation to Amazon Company- HR activities and management is essential for every
company for achieving the goal and objective in effective manner. It is recommended to Amazon
that they must concern about implementation of effective HR strategies and practices. This
would aid respective company to achieve goal in effective manner. For this they must adopt
various strategies such as identify need of training and development sessions, motivate
employees, maintain effective working environment etc. (Orlikowski and et.al., 2016). To
conduct certain strategies in appropriate manner they can use practices like design training
sessions according to need of employees, motivate employees by giving rewards and
recognisance, develop rules and policies according to requirement for employers and employees
and so on. By conducting all these the respective company can resolve their problems in
effective and appropriate manner. The respective company use various theories to evaluate and
analysis the situation and position of their organisation in market.
Reflection on theory
To conduct assignment in effective and efficient manner we use three theories which are
six-component model, Knowledge Strategy Process method (KSP) and HR scorecard. These
method help Amazon Company to evaluation and examine several aspects which affect work-life
balance at respective company (Anderson, 2013). The six-component model help respective firm
in analysing direct and indirect factors which influence Human resource management and
strategies for various factors such as market, competitors, target audiences and so on. Whereas
the Knowledge Strategy Process method help Amazon Company to do analysis of factors which

affect internal and external environment of an organisation. Through evaluation organisation
managers can develop plans and strategies accordingly. This help HRM of respective company
to make goal and objective for their organisation by analysis the situation and different factors
(Jepsen and et.al., 2014). By this respective organisation also able to know the contribution of
their HR in achieving goal and objective in appropriate manner. Along with this, there is use of
HR scorecard method which help in analysing nature of business and challenges that stakeholder
face. By this managers can develop planning strategies while considering lines managers and
executives.
When Amazon Company conducting evaluation of all three theories they analysis that all
theories have some advantage as well as some limitations which hamper the work of managers
(Chelladurai and Kerwin, 2017). Respective company face limitation while conducting
evaluation through these three theories which are by using KSP method and HR Scorecard
method it is difficult to analysis intangibles factors whereas Six-component method is very wide
if it is conducting for large company like Amazon Company. But there various advantages of all
theories which help respective company in making decision and analysing situation. Some
advantages which Amazon Company analysis are by six-component method they able to manage
and strengthen their business operations and functions in effective and appropriate manner.
Whereas with KSP method manage their management in effective manner by using personnel
information and with Scorecard they able to planning strategies within the lines managers and
executives.
On the basis of all these theories and model, recommendation is given which help
respective company to identify appropriate HR strategies and practices which help them in
getting effective outcome. Reflection of HR strategies and practices which is recommended for
Amazon Company such as strategies are they can identify need of training and development
sessions, motivate employees, maintain effective working environment etc. to make effective
working environment. Practices for it are design training sessions according to need of
employees, motivate employees by giving rewards and recognisance, develop rules and policies
according to requirement and so on. By doing all their respective company can get appropriate
outcome which help company in maintaining proper working environment.

Reflection on the group process
I done this assignment with my effective and knowledgable team members. The whole
project is done with proper scheduling which include planning, gathering essential information,
analysis of informations and theories and in last recommendation is given which is come up as
huge success for our team. While conducting project there is proper cooperation among all team
members by which they able to execute plans in appropriate manner (Edvinsson, 2013).
According to me the main reasons behind succession of this project is cooperation among team
members, proper planning, dedication of all members and team spirit in group. I feel great while
working with my team members and I also able to enhance my knowledge and skills. All of my
team members are highly knowledgable and experienced. I learn various other things during
working with them that are learn values of teamwork, dedication towards work, and so on.
Along-with this I learn that outcome of working in a proper team is more effective then working
alone or an individually. The whole experienced which I gain in during project is very helpful for
my career life time. Along-with this while working in the group I able to learn various useful
things like how to work in a team, how to resolve problems by discussing, how to understand
other and respect other and many more. All these things will help me in achieving my future goal
in effective and appropriate manner. I also able to understand that if we conduct work in group
we able to complete it in effective and appropriate manner in given time duration. To conduct the
work or task in team we will do planning of who will do what or in other word we assign duty
according to knowledge and skills. This will help in conducting task in appropriate manner and
by this everyone able to give their full efforts in their work.
Reflection on the recommendations
I think that recommendations which are given above help respective company to in
achieving their goal and objective in effective manner. For every organisation it is essential to
develop and design appropriate strategies and practices which help them in attaining their vision
in appropriate manner (Griggs and et.al., 2012). Such as if Amazon Company develop strategy to
provide training and development session to employees they have to do evaluation of every staff
after that they make group according to their skills and ability. Then they design training and
development sessions for every employees according to group which help them in enhancing
their productivity and quality. Which help them in achieving goal and objective in effective
manner. I think there are various other strategies which help respective company to attain their

vision that are they can motivate employees by doing practices like giving reward, providing
motivation sessions, do appraisal for good work and so on. The management of respective
company maintain positive environment within the workplace which help them in attaining goal
in affective and appropriate manner (Bailey and et.al., 2018). According to me managers of
respective company must hire effective employees and allocate responsibilities according to the
skills and ability of their staff so that they can complete the work in effective and appropriate
ways.
According to me to resolve the problem or issues of poor Human resource management
the respective company can conduct various methods. Some major methods which Amazon
Company can adopt are they can make rules and regulations for both employers and employees
so no one do discrimination to anyone and there is positive environment at workplace. Along-
with this they can organize training and development session and activities by which employees
able to conduct there work in effective and it enhance their productivity. HR manager also
consider every employees as same and do appraisal and reward activities time to time which
motivate and encourage employees in appropriate manner. When employees feel motivated they
perform their task in appropriate manner, which enhance their productivity and profitability of a
respective organisation. HR manager of respective also discuss problems, issues, ideas and
suggestions to their employees because by this employees feel connected toward the workplace.
It also improve the management of the human resource in Amazon Company.
Ethical personal reflection
Respective company use Van Luijk's Steps method which help them in analysing
situation in effective manner. By this Henk Van Luijk step method a company can evaluate
moral dilemma of a person through step by step (Brewster, 2017). Their are following questions
of respective method is given below:-
1-What is the main moral issue?
This question is related to potential major moral issues which can be acceptable and
necessary. In it a manager select major and most appropriate issue which help in future
investigation and growth.
The various moral issue in respective company such as employees have to work more
than 9 hours a day, employers didn't motivate or appraise their employees, sometime employees
have to work on Sunday also and so on. All these issues and problems decrease moral of
employees which affect their productivity and efficiencies.

2-Who are the participants in the case?
In this question there is evaluation of everyone or stakeholders whose rights, values and
interest is consider and necessary for the particular case or situation. Here stakeholder can be
anyone like employees, management, owner, investor, customers and many others.
In respective company case there are two participants one is internal stakeholder another
id external stakeholder. Internal stakeholder are employees, management and owner of Amazon
Company whereas external stakeholder are target audiences of respective company.

or task to other. It can be a responsible person who understand situation and duties of every
person. They must assign duties to their employees according to their skills and knowledge

company. These are responsible persons of an organisation. They first understand skills and
ability of a person then assign task or job to them. If there is any requirement of training and
development they also conduct session according to requirement.

This is related to the information or data which is necessary and required for taking
rational decision in effective and appropriate manner. These decision help an organisation in
achieving their goal and objective in effective way. Their are some variable in this question

Their are various information are required to take effective decision that is about
competitors, recent technology, economical rate, skills and ability of employees and so on. So

5-What arguments can be provided?
The argument which is provided to employer while working in respective company are
like motivation level is low, productivity level of employees decrease, employees satisfaction is
low and many more (Garrick, 2012). For this respective company has to follow some steps,
which are given below:-
The managers of Amazon Company first do analysis and evaluation and list the
arguments.
After that they prepare list the against arguments which is done against the first
arguments.
In last step the respective company consider both the arguments from the perspective of
principles and situation of the workplace.

and problems which an organisation face when they operate their business this will directly
affect productivity of employees. If a company want to analysis they will do it by using six-
component method, KSP method and HR scorecard method. After that they can make effective
and efficient decision. By evaluating the situation and designing plan according to consequence a
company can resolve any problems or issues which they are facing. The conclusion which is
design must based on principles, consequence and rule of thumb which resolve the conflict
among employees, employers.
7-How do I feel?
Above discussed issues affect me and other on huge level, I feel discriminated on the
basis of respective issues. The similar reaction will be expected of me if similar situations will
come up in future, in that I can defiantly try to do discussion and participation.
