Introduction
As a student of business management, I have always dreamt of becoming a Business
Analyst in a reputed corporate house of Australia which would help me get a specific edge in my
career. Therefore, I have chosen the company Woolworths as the company where I would be
eager to work and start to build my career for future. I have chosen a conglomerate such as
Woolworths so that I come across a big and more complex business atmosphere which would
help me grow professionally and personally with my experiences.
Woolworths: an overview
Woolworths supermarkets, also known as “Woolies” in the colloquial language, is a
chain of supermarkets and grocery stores owned by the Woolworths Group of Australia. The
company Woolworths was founded in the year 1924. Woolworths has specialization in the area
of groceries, which includes fruits and vegetables, frozen meat, poultry and packaged food.
However, the respective chain of supermarkets also sell DVDs, health and beauty products,
personal care goods, household and domiciliary goods, pet food, baby products and stationary.
Woolworths also has its online portals where they follow “click and collect” home delivery
service for providing goods and products to the online customers. At present, Woolworths has
981 supermarkets all over Australia (Woolworths.com.a.2019).
Strategic Goal
The strategic objectives of Woolworths Group of supermarkets are to put their customers in the
first place across all the other brands. The main strategic goal of the organization is to provide
the best possible service which is highly “customer oriented” and mark themselves as “customer

driven” enterprise with the best ever actions and solutions for an ultimate customer satisfaction.
The company gives priority to sustainability in terms of sales and marketing with an end- to- end
process and systems excellence for an ultimate customer experience.
Woolworths: Purpose, vision and value
The mission of Woolworths is to provide the best convenience, value and quality to their
customers. The purpose of Woolworths Group is to create a better experience for a better
tomorrow for the employers, employees as well as the customers, along with the shareholders
and community they serve.
Organizational structure
The organizational structure of Woolworths Group is hierarchical where the employees of the
organization are grouped with every department having a supervisor. The supervisor, on the
other hand, is again supervised by the Executive officers and the executive officers are also
managed and supervised by the board of directors. The hierarchical organizational structure goes
vertical in the power sharing maze and it is considered to be one of the most popular
organizational structure and most common in nature, present in maximum companies and
enterprises.
Professional development
The company Woolworths Group is committed to the professional development of their
employees. Woolworths Group views learning and development as a significant way of
investment on human resources for the future growth of the company. Woolworths Group is
committed to provide opportunities for all the employees to achieve their professional goals and
