INTRODUCTION
Personal reflection is the process of re-experience all the events which were faced while
performing set of different activities. With the help of it people may get opportunity to
reconsider the ideas, thoughts and feelings from a new perspective. It guides individuals to build
emotional self awareness (Campbell and Greenfield, 2018). It is beneficial to understand self
weaknesses, driving factors, weaknesses and emotions. Main purpose of it is to differentiate
between what was taught and what is required to be done in practical. This report is based upon
personal reflection for which Gibbs Reflective cycle is being used. All the stages of it such as
description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion, action plan etc. are covered in this report.
MAIN BODY
Gibbs reflection model
For the purpose of sharing my feelings about the learning which has helped me to build
employability skills of mine I have selected Gibbs Reflective Cycle. It was developed by an
American psychologist and sociologist Graham Gibbs (Gibbs reflection model, 2019). It was
published in his book Learning by Doing. With the help of it individuals can think systematically
regarding the experiences which was experienced by them in specific events or situations. With
the help of it I have analysed all my strengths, weaknesses, driving factors etc. There are various
stages of this model which are as follows:
Stage 1 – Description: It is the first stage of the reflection model in which details
regarding the event on which reflection is provided is described in detail. While studying in
college different tasks from teachers are allocated to the students or group of them so that their
abilities of dealing with future problems and issues could be enhanced. I have also received one
project from the lecturers which was required to be completed on time for the purpose of scoring
very high marks (Hannon, 2018). All the students in class have to work effectively on the
projects so that their chances of getting good career opportunities can be enhanced. I was
required to deliver the topic appropriately and use formal language while delivering so that a
positive image in the mind of analyser could be established. I tried to gather detailed information
about the project and made sure that I complete the report in the given time limit. For this
purpose, I have prepared a plan in advance so that all the activities related to my project could be
carried out in systematic manner. It has resulted proper completion of the report in

predetermined time limit. While working on the project I took help of my teachers so that I can
make sure that the work which is done by me is creative and different from others.
Stage 2 – Feelings: At this stage actual feelings before and after the event could be
shared with others. There were various emotions of mine while working on the project assigned
by the lecture. When I got this project I was little bit tensed about it because it was the first time
when I was doing something like this. The feeling of working on it was very exciting because I
was experiencing various things which were never faced by me earlier. For example, used so
many online sources to complete the report which has helped me to enhance my knowledge
about different new facts. When the project was fully completed I felt so relieved because it was
the best feeling for me that I have finished my work in the predetermined time limit. While
working on the project my classmates also faced so many challenges such as lack of information
about the topic which was selected by them for the project. Now I think that it was a great
opportunity for all the students of my class as well as me as it has helped me to determine all the
strengths and weaknesses of mine so that I can formulate effective strategies to deal with
negative events in future. I think that it will be beneficial for me to reach my career goals in
upcoming period and be prepare to deal with all the tasks which could be allocated to me while
working in an organisation. According to me others who have also taken part in such projects
will be feeling very good because they have also completed it properly and in the given time
limit. By working on this type of report they will be able to respond to the issues that are having
possibility of arising in future (Lamond, 2018).
Stage 3 – Evaluation: At this stage all the things which went well or wrong are analysed
for the purpose of assessing that the event which was undertaken was able to accomplished
properly or not. There were various things which went so well one of them was enhanced
employability skills of mine as with the help of the project assigned to me by the lecturers I was
able to communicate and interact with other properly. In my project the volume was appropriate
which means the content which was recorded in the report was accurate and liked by tutor. When
the whole task was completed then presentation was required to be presented in front of all the
students and lecturers. I have scored a higher marks in the pace of speech which was natural
while delivering the speech. My topic which was selected by me was very interesting and liked
by the teachers at the time of presentation (Marris, 2018). The content which was recorded in the
report was relevant to the topic chosen by me and it was also relevance to the module. One of the

excellent thing which is related to my experience was the time utilised in effective manner for
the presentation. I kept proper body language, enhanced knowledge about my project etc. all
these things went well and proper. There are various thing which didn't went well which are lack
of eye contact, organisation and appropriate preparation, enthusiasm for the presentation and one
more thing which is dependence upon notes. Due to all of them I scored very low and received
passing marks. I was also not able to give a clear introduction for the presentation because of my
low enthusiasm. Due to this my conclusion was also very weak which affected my scores of
whole presentation (Thudt, 2018).
Stage 4 – Analysis: This phase is related to the analysis of learnings acquired by
individuals while performing activities for specific events. While working on the project I have
learned various things. One of them was effective and proper communication which has helped
me to take proper guidance from the tutor who have assigned the tasks to all the students. This
project have helped me to understand the importance of proper communication as with the help
of it all the critical issues could be dealt properly and the problems could be resolved with
support of others. I have learned that for the purpose of building employability skills it is very
important to work effectively on the projects allocated in college time as it can help to build
efficiency to deal with challenges while working in an organisation in future. I have experienced
a negative thing which was related to the lack of enthusiasm and it has affected my score in
presentation. With the help of this weakness I have learned that it all the issues could be dealt or
responded properly by being energetic while performing different tasks as it helps to build ability
to work effectively (Thudt and et.al., 2018). As people learn from mistakes therefore I have also
learned from different mistakes which were made by me while working on the project. After
completing the report I have decided that I will give a proper and well diversified introduction
and conclusion for such types of presentations.
Stage 5 – Conclusion: This stage is related to looking back at all the situations faced
while working on the project and the steps which could be taken to accomplish the goals in more
effective manner. When I look back at the project which was completed by me I analyse that
there are various thing which could be done by me to make it more effective. The major one was
keeping enthusiasm because if it was enthusiastic then it would have delivered a clear
introduction and conclusion for the presentation. With the help of it the problem of making eye
contact would have also dealt properly. I think that I should be enthusiastic while working on

different projects as it would have helped me to work effectively and reach to the goals of
scoring higher marks in the presentation (Turner, 2018). This project has led me towards a
negative experience which is my lower self confidence because I was expecting higher marks but
the marks which are scored by me are very low as compared to my expectations. For the purpose
of working on this type of similar event I am required to develop my skills of public speaking so
that I can deliver the presentation properly and reach to the goal of mine which is related to the
career enhancement.
Stage 6 - Action plan: It is the last stage of reflective cycle in which all the actions
which could be taken in future for the purpose of dealing with same situations are analysed. This
stage makes sure that the possibility of negative events taken this time should be ignored in
future. In order to deal with all the unfavourable situation which has affected my marks this time
I have decided that I will be enthusiastic next time so that I can accomplish my personal goals
such as higher marks in the projects assigned by tutor. I have also decided to be attentive in class
room so that I can enhance my skills of public speaking as it is required to present a presentation
in front of a group of individuals. I have decided to make sure that if I get same opportunity in
future then I make eye contact while delivering a speech as it is required to interact with listeners
and get their feedback for information shared with them. Next time I will also present my topic
properly as it will be beneficial for me to present a good image of mine in front of tutor and other
individuals of class (Tyreman, 2018). I have also decided to use good examples while giving a
speech in the class so that I can meet the expectations of my lecturers and others. This time
presentation was not that much concise or informative which was planned but next time I will
also focus on this factor as it can also help me to improve my performance. By paying attention
towards all these key elements I will be able to reach the goals of mine which will be beneficial
for me to grab effective career opportunities that are required to grow in future.
CONCLUSION
From the above project report it has been concluded that reflection is a method which is
used by individuals to reconsider the situations, events, ideas or emotions which were
experienced by them while performing different activities. One of the common model which
could be used to write a reflection is Gibbs Reflective Cycle. There are six different stages of it
which are required to be followed by people while delivering a reflection. All of them are
description, feeling, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and action plan. By following all these
