INTRODUCTION
The current reflective essay is based on particular subject that is why it is significant for
university students to set short and long term personal aims in their academic career. This study
will explain three main reasons to support following viewpoints in systematic manner all in form
of reflective essay.
MAIN BODY
Importance of setting short and long term personal aims for university students and three specific
reasons behind it
University students work very hard to make their career better and also use many
methods for it which is quite beneficial for them. But success is possible only when their way of
learning and understand varied academic courses are correct (van der Zanden and et.al., 2018).
This is the time when students should set clear personal admissions whether small or large,
which is also very important. Aims setting are fundamental to long term success. It is very
difficult to obtain high score in class and become topper, to do so university students must have
clear defined aims as it help them to focus on journey to collection of set achievements, meaning
they allocate their time and resources more effectively and can access inspiration throughout
period when they may feel like quit.
Three main reason for setting short & long term personal goals-
 The first purpose to set up clear personal aims is to keep focus on getting high score in
class more than other students in university who are also attempts to get the same thing
by learning and improving their skills. By setting aims students is able to determine a
clear pathway to success and growth, it allow them to concentrate on what needs to be
done in systematic manner. It goes a longer way to prevent them become overwhelmed,
discouraged and frustrated.
 Second reason is that by setting long term personal aim such as obtaining the best and
most beneficial employment opportunity after completing graduation will makes
university students to boost up their self confidence as they conduct hard efforts and

perform according to schedule (Smith and Gayles, 2017). It is very difficult to get a good
job in today's time; competition is so high that its essence falls on the university students.
High confidence among students drive them towards long run success as it help them to
achieve desire outcomes and make able to tackle future aims with less anxiety. With that
new developed confidence, learners can continue to set more ambitious or personal aims.
 The last reason behind setting clear long as well as short personal aims by university
students is to help to think about their ideal self. By setting goals they prepare themselves
for obtaining the best professional career which in return makes students able to get high
income and earn a lot of money.
CONCLUSION
From above discussion it has been concluded that University students set clear small and
large term as it gives them clear direction to pursue their academic career and further
professional one as well. They get effective and better outcomes by achieving their set goals.
