INTRODUCTION
Reflective practices is the aptitude to reflect on one activity to engage in procedure of
continuous learning (Johnston, 2017). In simple term, paying critical attention to practical
theories and values which inform daily actions, by analysing practice reflexively and reflectively.
It is one of the best way of studying own experiences to improve the way individual work. It is
very effective and essential for health professional in health care sector who want to carry on
practising through learning in their lives. Reflective practices and reflection is a better way to
enhance work abilities, increase confidence level and help to become more qualified and
proactive professional. Engaging in with this act will help to improve and develop the quality of
care they provide and reduce gap between practices and theory. The current report explain one
reflective model that is Gibbs reflective cycle, it is used to proof and improve understanding of
practice based learning.
TASK 1
Reflective account on experience of producing improvement plans for mid Staffordshire
Gibb's reflective cycle-
This model is used in different situation and it is effective in evaluation. The purpose of
this concept it to encourage person to think systematically about its own experience they had
during particular situation, activity or event.
Description-
In placement during my first year when I am working on diagnostic department, I was
working under guidance of my senior, I am accountable for providing good and evidence based
practices to my patients in order to improve their health. When I am observing people with
health issues, I have to use different technologies and equipments that complete my work
effectively. At that movement I realize that I cannot be able to use advanced technology at that
movement. I am doing my job in heath care centre to treat and diagnose medical conditions,
diseases, disorders through application of professional medical knowledge and skills. When I am
treating someone nurses and other health care specialist were there at that time to support for
handling the situation effectively. I realize lack of technological skills in myself, it happens while
I diagnose disorders in patient. I would like to take help of other people doing same job in
workplace because I cannot be able to handle the situation due of poor technological abilities.
Nurses help me to diagnose disorder, but they did not work perfectly as they are unable to use

advanced application and health care equipments. I have to wear clean gloved before using non
touch process and clean wound. I noticed that my ability for using advanced technology is not
appropriate I have to enhance it more than now which is quite essential because it impacts on my
work and job accountabilities. My senior mentor was present at that time when I am treating
patients, they guide me how to work and behave professionally. When I was not able to use
equipment I though for time period about what to do or say.
Feelings-
Before the above situation happen I feel so confident, I think that I can do my job
appropriately without making any mistakes because it directly impacts on my performance. I
washed my hand before using equipments, use alcohol gel before diagnosing disorders.
However, I feel intimidated because I felt that it is essential for me as fist year students and did
not want to embarrass my self. When my senior tell me to use equipment for testing blood
sample, I feel nervous at that time because I think that I cannot be able to used it. I feel
embarrass at that movement because other people using advanced techniques perfectly escape
me. The feeling is totally opposite which I feel before this situation, I cannot be able to
communicate with my senior regarding this problem. I don't want to make my mentor upset . I
try to spoke to my senior about situation because they are the only one who can help me to
overcome this condition. My mentor discussed with me the importance of using technologies and
equipments. After making discussion with senior person, I think other people also feel same
thing when they are facing the same situation that I felt above, I think that I is quite normal. With
the help of little improvement I can manage my skill gap.
Evaluation-
The situation was extremely challenging for me, I regret that I am unable to use some
equipments during diagnosing disorder. However, I am pleased that my senior respond so
positively after telling my whole situation at time when I realize skill gap and lack of technical
skills. I think that every thing is going well, while using equipments my senior mentor guide me
how to used this they tell me what are the procedure to operate advanced technology in Mid
Staffordshire that impact on my performance positively. But on the other hand, I think that I
second year nursing students were also not able to use equipments effectively, I noticed that thy
are facing the same situation which I already I faced. I think that it is the right time to give some
advice, I told other members to communicate and discussed their issue with senior mentor

because they know who to deal with specific condition on time. I too have learned from situation
as it has taught me significance of performing assertively with new equipments, in systematic
manner in order to safeguard patients well fare. From above stage I realize skill gap which is
good for my work, then I communicate to my senior regarding this situation, with the help of
their guidance and direction I can work better, they tell me to not getting nervous I will take deep
breath and try to operate system.
Analysis-
After making discussion, I think that I can feel much better than before, it helps to
develop and enhance my confidence level. I think that communication with senior work
amended, discussion with mentor boost up my confidence and allow me to work with
technologies effectively. The guidance which I got from my mentor improve my performance
and productivity, I allow me to manage my work on time.
Conclusion-
Looking back on this situation, I can see that I will have acted sooner and that I would
have ensured that I used equipments before examining senior. I am able to see that my inaction
and less activeness in this situation, after discussion with my senior, I realize that I need to
develop confidence to face challenge. I recognize that I need to be helpful and be supportive to
colleagues, comprehension pressure that they also feel under same condition, but assuring that
their work practices will not put patients at risk. Pragmatist learning style is considered that
impact on learning in my opinion positively, it allows person to be capable to see how to put
learning about new things into practices in real world. Individual with, this learning style is
capable to think about how to apply experience of learning in practical form. I found that
deciding the time frame and choosing the method that I can use to improve my skills is
challenging task that impact on producing my improvement plans in Mid Staffordshire.
Action plan-
In further, I will aim to improve and develop my technological skill when working with
technologies in order to assure that well-being of patients in maintained, it also helps to assure
that results after diagnosis disorder is positive. In my next placement, I will make this aim for my
learning and I will discuss this with my senior to work out plans for how I can gain this. In
simple words I need to develop technical skills because it helps me to work more efficiently,
boost up my confidence and make me more valuable workers for my mentor.

TASK 2
Brief introduction of PDP
Personal development plan refer to actions that improve identity and self-knowledge,
develop skills and potential talents, build work abilities as well as employability and enhance
quality of human life rather than before (O’Malley and et.al., 2015). PDP support to realization
of aspirations and dreams, that will be achieved by person. This concept is not limited to self
development but it also included informal & formal activities for improving others as well. It
refers to the programs, techniques, tools, methods and assessment systems that help human
development at individual stage in workplace. In simple words, personal development plan is
meticulously planed programs which uses psychological tools in order to develop understanding
between workers and reviewer of Mid Staffordshire on essential areas of development carrying
in mind modes in which these needs will be supported. Personal development plan is very
important as it helps to plan career change, build current abilities. It permits learning something
new and reach at new heigh in personal or professional career. PDP help to have well-thought-
out goal to purpose for work.
In this report, I want to create PDP for my self through which I can try to consider on
areas where I need to work upon in order to achieve my long, short and medium terms goals or
objectives. So to start procedure of developing a personal development plan for myself I like to
begin with my career path and introduction till date and my further career objectives. I work in
Mid Staffordshire as medical assistant at diagnostic department, my career objective would be to
become successful surgeons.
Short term objective-
My short term objective is to get training for improving my current skills rather than and
developing the new ones in next 18 months. Training increase my motivational level and ability
to adopt new methods or technologies.
Mid term objective-
My second career objective is to become successful surgeons in next 3 years, it helps to
grow my career more and more. It is created to improve my own abilities in future to perform at
good level consistently.
Long term objective-

My aim is to open my own clinic for providing evidence based health care practices to
patients that help to recover health quickly. After achieving short and mid term objective I am
able to gain my long term objective which is quite essential for me.
Skills gaps-
Skills gap is differences between abilities that person need or want and skills their
workforce provide. With the help of conducting skill gap analysis I am able to determine skills
that I need to meet personal goals. In my opinion technical skill gap is occurring my performance
the most, due to this gap I cannot be able to use advanced technology and equipments properly.
Without having this skill I loss my self-confidence, it decrease productivity and ability to
diagnose disease and disorders in human body.
Resources need to obtain objectives-
Health care professionals guidance is one of the best resources that I need to get my short
term objective effectively. Guidance and training under senior person bring many benefits for my
career as it help to increase my knowledge regarding job role and enhance learning. Training
through health care professional is one of the best opportunity for myself, which allow me to
retain high knowledge. It helps to increased my professional morale, motivation level and also
support to improve the work practices.
I want to work with senior surgeon, because it supports to achieve by second objective on
desirable time. There are many benefits come with this opportunity such as it helps to encourage
healthy risk taking ability. By learning under senior person I am able to learn conflict managing
and resolution abilities that helps in my future career.
Working under some senior and knowledgable person in Mid Staffordshire, I can gain
more knowledge about health care practices that help in achieving my long term objective. It
makes me able to open my own clinic where I will implement all the advanced and latest
equipments that help in recovering patients' health and improve their well-being than before.
Senior doctor and other professionals gain depth knowledge about work, they have all the
essential skills that complete work on time. By working with these people I can learn new things,
improve my practices through own learning experience which I can implement while opening
my own clinic.

Training plan is one of the resource that I don't have currently, which is quite necessary
for improving my skill as well as developing new ones. I asked my senior to create training and
development plan for existing and new applicants in workplace.
Strengths-
Work as medical assistant I have some responsibilities towards my patients and other
staff members. I am accountable for everything from administrative work to people and
physicians help tasks at Mid Staffordshire, doctor office, diagnostic department and other
facilities. I help to diagnose diseases, health issues and disorders among number of patients. I am
able to communicate with my colleagues and other people effectively. I can translate medical
into layman's terms for my patients perfectly. Listening guidance in medical field is very
essential as it helps to provide good care to people, throughout the day, I will need to listen
carefully to concerns and needs of senior as well as several patients. I was able to listen
everything and remember in mind for longer, it defines my strength.
Weaknesses-
From above, it has been analysed that due to lack of technical skills I cannot be able to
perform well. I am unable to use equipments and technologies that used in my job role to
diagnose disease among patients. Due to lack of self controlled I cannot be able to control my
patience which affect my performance and practices.

I want to become surgeon in health care sector with skills and greater knowledge that
helps in my career growth.
Measurable-
I can measure my specific goal by considering the improvement in my practices and
behaviour.
Achievable-
The objective is achievable, with the help of superior guidance and direction as well as
self learning.

I want to open my own clinic within next 5 years. Through working with seniors I can
comprehension and retention all essential knowledge that help me to achieve my objectives.

CONCLUSION
From above, it has been summarized that technical and other skills required for medical
assistant job role in diagnostic section is very important. With the help of analysing strength and
weakness person is able to develop their own personal development plan, that help to improve
current abilities and support to fill skill gap.
