INTRODUCTION
Academic Reflection refers to the use of a wide range of different methods and
techniques which will help in ensuring that a person is able to reflect back on the past experience
in the right manner effectively and efficiently (Chen and et.al., 2017). It can be done by using a
wide variety of methods and techniques which will help in attaining the short-term, medium-term
and long-term goals and objectives without problems and issues in the right manner. Thus in this
way this can help a lot in reflecting on the experience of the past which can guide the person who
is reading it. In this report, detailed focus will be made on reflection on career plan for the future.
MAIN BODY
Assessment of own skills
Scenario- I am a student studying in a university. It is my career ambition to become
Financial Manager in the future so that I am able to make sure that I can manage the financial
information in a proper manner appropriately.
Gibbs' reflective cycle is a model which can be used in order to ensure that the reflection
on the past experience is done in the right manner (Ghanizadeh, 2017). There are various types
of stages in this model. The explanation of different types of stages of the model is given as
follows-
Description- In this stage, a detailed description of the various types of events and
activities is given (Long, 2019). As I want to become a Financial Manager in the future I will
make sure that I am able to develop my personal skills and competencies in such a manner so
that sound financial management can be carried out properly.
Feelings- In this stage, a description of the various types of feelings and thoughts of a
person is made. I have positive feelings for becoming a Financial Manager in the future as I am
confident about using my skills and abilities in the right manner.
Evaluation- This stage relates with the experience. As I have handled diverse portfolios
related with Finance in the past I am quite confident about putting my skills and abilities to good
use for attaining a higher-level of efficiency and effectiveness.
Analysis- This stage relates with the learning experience (Menekse, Anwar and Akdemir,
2020). I have to make sure that for becoming a Financial Manager I can use my learning
experience of the past effectively and efficiently for achieving the diverse goals and objectives.
