The title of article is Necrocapitalism. It was written in the year 2008 by Subhabrata
Bobby Banerjee. This article was published by SAGE Publishing which was earlier known
as SAGE Publications. This is an independent publisher corporation which was found in the
year 1965 in the confines of New York through Sara Miller McCune and is now
acknowledged to be based within the territory of Newbury Park, California. This article seeks
to explore a very important and unique concept of necrocapitalism. In relation, I gained
understanding that this is acknowledged to be a concept which is based on dispossession and
subjugation of life to the power of death. This concept is linked to the occurrence of colonial
conquest, corruption, war, global politics, military coups, dispossession and many such
things. As per this article, it has been analysed that no other good or product has such
negative and critical history as is possessed by power and oil. In the past time, after the elapse
of the 19th century, oil industry has been recognised to be one of the most prominently
growing and emerging sectors across the globe. In this relation, it has also been established
on the basis of this article that oil corporations had been some of the very first full and truly
multinational companies in context of modern era. In the year 2007, 6 among the 15 biggest
companies listed within the Fortune 500 Global list were regarded to be oil corporations.
Further, it has been levied down that the corporate strategy of such companies has been
inextricably associated with the national strategy of government along with global power and
politics. There have been numerous instances of petro violence in the past time which point
out to the occurrence of necrocapitalism. With the assistance of this article, I am able to
effectively share my views and opinions.
While I was having a reading of this article, I realised some major shortcomings in
relation to the concept of necrocapitalism. One of the biggest shortcomings of this article is
acknowledged to be the lack of clarity that is present upon this topic within the article.
Further, another shortcoming is that not enough discussion is presented over the core
meaning of necrocapitalism as per Subhabrata Bobby Banerjee. However, the article is
enough to get knowledge of the examples of the way in which this concept has occurred a
number of times in past and present.
For me the most important aspect of this article was it has developed my
understanding on the new term necrocapitalism which was introduced by Bobby Bannerji. It
has also developed my knowledge on contemporary forms of business associations’
accumulation which includes subjugation and dispossession of life towards the power of
death. The overall learning developed with this has enhanced by analytical, research, critical,
thinking and also supported me out in expressing the things in positive manner. All of these
