INTRODUCTION
Reflective journals are those personal records of an individual which will help them to
evaluate their experience of learning (Alt, Raichel and Naamati-Schneider, 2021). There are
various kinds of models of reflection like Gibbs model of reflection, Kolbs model of reflection
and many others which will help an individual to analyse their past experience. Gibbs model
consist of six stages which are going to discuss in this report. The main purpose of this report is
to evaluate the employability skills which are learned at schools and universities and few of the
skills are learned outside schools and universities.

Stage 1-
Description
This will
describe the
situation as it
occurs that what
happen, who all
are present at the
situation and
many others
(Brugman and et.
al., 2021).
During my higher education, my teacher gave a group
assignment and ask me to become the leader of that group.
I have 5 members including me in my group. Teacher has
asked us to prepare a online game to minimize plagiarism
to help academic students. The concept of this game should
be remove plagiarism with few fun activities. Teacher gave
us a deadline of 25 days to complete this project. We have
completed the project and submit it but after 2 days of
deadline after taking permission from teacher.
Stage 2-
Feelings

of an individual
like what is felt
by an individual,
During this situation I felt nervous because teacher asked
me to manage the whole group effectively. I felt that if I
am unable to become good group leader then it may ruin
my image in front of my teacher and whole class. Two of
my group members did not like me and I felt that they are
unhappy to obey my instructions as a group leader.

Few of the things went well during this situation and these
things is that I learned some effective employability skills
for my future growth. I have learned effective
communication skill. Communication skills are those skills
which are required by an individual to express his ideas in
front of others to influence them toward their message
(Botirov and Haydarov, 2022). While working in a group I
have learned this skill well. While working in a group I
have to communicate my group members and from this
team communication activity I learned this skill. Secondly,
I have also learned team working skill because I have
assigned task as per the skills and expertise of my group
members. For example, I have assign data collection
activity to that individual who have effective skill and
knowledge to collect data. I have also learned research
skill. Few things went bad in the situation like the project
is submitted after the deadline, we have submitted the
project on 27th day. There are few skills which I am lacking
behind like ICT skill, time and self-management skill and
problem solving skill.
Stage 4-
Analysis
This is another
step to explain
that why things
went well and

not went well
The things which went well is that I have managed my
team effectively and this happen because I follow the
procedure of management of a team like I clear the
objectives and aim of my group and assign them task as
per their skills and expertise. Second thing which went
well is that I have learned to influence people toward my

and which I felt that they will not obey my instructions,
they also become my good friends and they share their
ideas and opinions on the project openly with me. Few of
their ideas are good which I implement within this group to
complete the group assignment. Few of the things did not
went well like we are unable to submit our project on time
because I assign task to my group members but did not
allot them time to accomplish those task. Secondly, I have
not prepared network diagram which will help me to
analyse which task need to complete first and which later
so that the task will get completed as per their priority. Few
of the task were pending due to other task because of their
dependence on other tasks. I am unable to solve few of the
conflicts which create within our group because I am
unable to understand the problem clearly and make a
corrective decision. While making the game as per our
project, none of us know programming and basic computer
knowledge which is the biggest issues. Due to any minor
technical issue, we need to call technical expert outside of
our group which also make our project delayed to submit.

As per my situation, I have learned that few of the
employability skills are essential to learn at higher
education level. This will help me to start my professional
career in a better way. I have learn my strengths and
weakness from this situation like my strengths are
communication skill, leadership skill, research skill, team
management skill and few others. On the other hand, my
weaknesses are ICT skills, time management skill and
problem solving skill. This could be more positive
situation if we work as per the time schedule to accomplish

Stage 6 of Gibbs model- Action Plan is the last stage of Gibbs model where an individual will
analyse their weak skills and they ways to improve them effectively. This will further help to
analyse if the same situation have can occur again in future than what all new things which can
be considered by the individual to make the situation better (Sibley and et. al., 2022). In case I
have to face the same situation in future then I will make sure that I will work as per network
diagram which will help me to analyse which task need to complete first and the appropriate time
limit for the task completion. Secondly, I will also make sure from next time that I will include a
group member in my group which knows technical skills and have good knowledge about
computers and other digital tools. Continuing Professional Development is a type of self
assessment plan which will help an individual to improve their weak skills (Koh, 2022). My

CONCLUSION
From the above information it is concluded that learning employability skills are one of
the most essential task for an student at higher education. Higher education is the last stage of
developing effective skills for a student. There are various employability skills like
communication skill, time management skill, problem solving skill and many others. Gibbs
model is one of the most popular model for self reflection which consist of 6 stages which will
further help to evaluate the past experience. Such self reflection model will help an individual to
analyse their strengths and weakness so that they will work harder to convert their weakness into
their strengths and analyse that what all mistakes they must avoid in case they face same
situation next time. CPD plan will help an individual to improve their weak skills effectively.
