evaluation of a managers personal effectiveness of performing within an enterprise. These
theories helps an individual employee to have a high level of performance based learning.
These reflective report has covered the details about the performance based learning
process that includes various theories for improving personal skills, knowledge and experience.
The various learning theories and models that are carried out by the individual manager within
the organisation in a significant way. The social learning theory helped the manager to identify
the behavioural learning and thus it will help in improving the personal learning of the
organisation. The experimental learning is based on the Kolb's model of experimental learning
process which will help the individual to learn by performing, increasing manager's performance.
On the other hand, the self learning theory will help in improving personal autonomous learning

INTRODUCTION
Reflective portfolio can be defined as a set of writing that helps in summarising the
experiences and insights of the students which is gained from the practical assignments.
Reflective portfolio can be used to assess the student's engagement in their field of work and to
assess its ability to make use of theoretical knowledge which is applied in for the personal and
professional growth (Bodle, Malin & Wynhoven, 2015). Reflective portfolio is totally different
from traditional assignments as it allows an individual to explore its own learning process and it
also as an individual to highlight its own opinions, personal perspectives and feelings. Reflective
business portfolio can be prepared by the employees or entrepreneurs in order to develop a
reflective portfolio of self with working with others which can help the employees to asses their
skills and knowledge in a given course of time. This process will require an employee to
synthesise as well as build the information and many of the activities in the module for which an
employee need to critically reflect upon the module as well as its learning (Mitrega, &
Pfajfar2015). Business portfolio can be built-up on variety of different materials such as critical
reflection of yourself and the group, discussions and reflection of different activities, discussion
and reflection on various significant learning themes, application and integration of learning i.e.
how the employee can apply and integrate the learning.
Reflective business portfolio allows the employee to take a step back to the experiences
and create an logical thinking about it with a purpose to develop an understanding about the
significance and meaning of reflective business portfolio. This can uncover the development and
learning going on, connects the learning with performance and provides relevant feedback. With
the help of reflective business portfolio an employee can come across the business skills and
knowledge acquired by the employee and the skills and knowledge which is lacked by the
employee (Sulaiman, & Hameed, 2018). Reflective business portfolio also provides an
opportunity for the employee to develop a performance development plan for the skills and
knowledge which is lacked by employee in order to improve its skills and knowledge in the
future.
Present report is based on the reflective business portfolio which can help in detailing and
reviewing employee's learning of personal skills, experience gained and knowledge achieved
over a course of degree. This report provides the reflection of employee's learning personal
skills, knowledge and experience of the employee through various learning theories like Social

learning theories, experimental learning theory and self-directed learning theory and mind-set.
Present report also provides the personal reflective report from Hackathon which was held in the
contact week, which is a seven day event in which knowledge is provided related to the software,
hardware with a particular goal of creating a functioning product after the completion of the
event. Present report provides the performance development plan for the employee in order to
improve its skills and knowledge in the future.

The inclusion of different learning theories that are carried out by the organisation helps
an individual to improve his effectiveness as manager. Some major theories which are followed
by the person are:
Social learning theory:
As stated by Albert Bandura, this theory focuses on the effective and significant planning
of the personal skills and traits that are taken in consideration by an individual. As the social
learning model that is carried out by the organisation classifies the individual as models, the
influence they lays and the behavioural aspects of the person is analysed. This model emphasis
the behaviour and learning practices of an individual on the basis of the experts and peers
reviews that person receives while developing (Yasmin, Naseem and Masso, 2019). The major
objective of this model is to identify and develop a conditioning that focuses on the environment
and the behavioural elements. As per Bandura, behaviour or mind-set of a person is a key driving
factors that initiate a good learning and helps in improving performance of a manager. As the
knowledge will be improved and experience is gained, the behaviour of an individual will see a
significant enhancement. It is a mediating process that can be followed by the stimuli and
response toward a factor that will help in enhancing the overall performance of manager. Being a
manager, on the initial stage of performing within an organisation, I have learned from my peers
and supervisors. My behaviour will be based on the response I got from my colleagues, peers,
mentors and management of firm. This helped me in improving my knowledge and skills to
handle various situations at work place. It involves the extent of an individual to assimilate the
knowledge and ability to reciprocate as per the components of social learning theory. Besides

this, it also had an impact on my psychology as a manager and affects my behaviour and mind-
set.
On the basis of social learning theory, I have also evaluated and identified the
environmental, behavioural and psychological factors which will impact my overall performance
and carrying out of the operations. My behaviour as a manager was based on learning and
reciprocating the behaviour and personality of other's in one or the other way. The guidance
provided by other or peers helps me to improve my learning and gain a good idea about the
resolving measures which aided in increasing the cognitive and environmental learning
measures. I looked after the behavioural policies and code of conduct which is followed by the
organisation. The behavioural aggressiveness of person can be channelized for an effective
improvement in his personal skills, work experience and knowledge (Lemus and Stein, 2017). It
can also be termed as the group learning process as one person learns from another within a
learning environment. This will motivate me to identify my personal drawbacks, weaknesses or
scope of improvement and make required changes as per the organisational operations and
requirements. It also helped me in decision making and guided in improving the overall
functionality or performance as an individual or a manager. The Social learning theory promotes
the effective concept of how I as person (manager) reacts or responds towards a situation. If the
response towards stimuli is positive or rewarding, I tends to repeat this behaviour with much
ease. On the other hand, if the response or outcome of a response towards a situation is not
positive, it leads to gaining experience that will be beneficial in future. It helped me in
reinforcing of my perception or ideology. This guidance that was provided turned out to be a
driving factor for me to carry out operations which will help me in significant developing of an
attitude. Adopting another person’s behaviour or traits to mould one's own persona supported
improvement in performance as a manager.
I, as a manager also looked after the expert opinion and suggestion from the peers that
will assist in handling a variety of situations and respond as per his experience and learning. The
Social learning theory will include the disciplinary action plan for personal improvement. It also
guides me to face adverse situations and initiate a learning processes which support me in
improving my knowledge as an individual or manager, in an effective way. Developing a
positive psychology will help me as a manager to identify a problem or opportunity. I looked
after the behavioural approach as it is a method that determines how a person (manager)

responded towards an adverse situation or opportunity while working. It plays a very important
role in my improvement (Lai, Shum and Tian, 2016). My attentiveness and ability to grasp the
learnings and reflecting the learnings when needed is also a major factor in the implementation
of social learning theory. It impacted my performance and overall functionality as a manager.
Besides this, social learning theory guided me to respond as per the occasion and situation.
Experimental Learning Theory:
Stated by David A. Kolb's, in 1970, the experimental learning process includes the proper
planning of the learning process and actions plans which are carried out by manager to “learning
by doing” approach. This approach or learning process which is carried out by organisation
emphasizes on action based learning. This will help the individual or manager to motivate one
self and others. As the social learning theory focuses on the theoretical aspect of learning,
Experimental learning theory focuses on practical learning. This theory leads to Kolb's model of
experimental learning that supports the manager to improve his knowledge, personal skills and
experience. This will guide the researcher to develop a positive condition or perception related to
experimental transformation of a manager (Murgu, S. D., Kurman and Hasan, 2018).
As per the Kolbs Model of experimental learning, I see through gaining of knowledge
and experience through the experimental model, which is based on four stages. It led to my
transformation as a manager. These stages not only guided me to improve the overall
performance, but also enhanced my knowledge and personal skills. The process of improving the
performance as per the Kolbs model includes following components.
Concrete experience: I looked for gaining a good and concrete experience on the basis
of the existing processes and experiences that I hold. It guided me to develop a positive mind-set
and thinking to gain the ideas about improving my skills and knowledge as manager. The
reinterpretation of the existing knowledge or experience to gain a new one requires high level of
skills and expert guidance. I evaluated various sources and measures which will helped me to
guide in performing in a team as a manager. I had to make sure in having a active involvement
and ensure a good attentiveness. As the experimental concepts can't be learned merely by
watching or reading, the inclusion of sensory involvement of hearing, reading, looking, speaking
for improving my knowledge, personal skills and experience was important. I looked after being
a part of team games, group discussion and debates as a manager in a firm to improve my idea
towards experimental learning.

Reflective observation: This stage involves the proper learning by performing a task and
then reviewing it back to test its feasibility. I, as a manager asked myself or performed certain
task and look after the reviews over it. It helped me to identify my strong and weak points and
determine the scope of improvement (Passarelli, 2016). The critical assessment of these task and
evaluation measures which will be performed impacted my overall performance within
organisation. I also looked after the adoption of different communication channels within the
enterprise to contact with other team members as a managers. It aided me to improve my
interaction with them. Presenting a report or maintaining the experimental logs turned out to be a
beneficial method to store and monitor my performance. Being a manager, my way of
communication and personal interaction skill had a very important role in the discussion process.
Conceptualisation: Also known as the abstract conceptualisation, this process involves
the effective assessment of various events or activities that are executed and justified on basis of
a theory or model. I compared the measures and knowledge that is been taken and reflect upon
my existing knowledge. I implemented and utilized various theories and models of learning and
skill improvements in regard with my colleagues and peers. This helped me to improve the
observation and gain the factual data which assisted me to improve my personal learning,
performance and having a good experience regarding the learning measures which are followed
to improve my skills and knowledge. It helped me to determine the inconsistencies between
experience gained and understanding that is been developed. The peer assessment and evaluation
measures which were carried out by the organisation which is been followed by me assists in
identifying the improvement measures which is been carried out to improve personal skills,
knowledge and experience (Smith, 2016).
Experimentation: This process involves the effective experimentation process. At this
stage, I kept in practice what I have learnt in previous stages. Planning helped me to take in
consideration certain growth measures to transform my learning and understandings into action
to improved my knowledge, personal skill set and experience to handle various situations. I was
able to predict the upcoming action or outputs of a process and take suitable measures which are
carried out by the organisation. The practical utilization of the learning gained and practising its
constantly will turn out to be an effective measure which helped in improving my overall
performance as a manager.
Self-Directed learning theory and Mindset:

As the name suggests, this will help in gaining a good idea about the personal learning
and improvement in individual private skill set to enhance the overall performance. It leads to a
significant planning of autonomous or self-directed learning and communication process. I, as a
manager see through it as it helped me in enhancing my personal ideology or mind-set. It
covered the effective inclusion of a framework to ensure my personal growth and skill
improvement (Rotter, 2017). The self-based learning process assisted in improving the overall
performance and activities which were carried out by me as a manager. The self-directed
learning process assists in performing personal evaluation process with effectiveness. I
performed a self-assessment of my own as a manager to identify my personalised strengths and
weaknesses and developed a personal development plan to improve my individual skill set and
knowledge. This helped me to improve my functionality and carry out the managerial roles in an
effective way. Based on the personal development plan and evaluation of my personal skills and
qualities using the SWOT and other assessment tools, I increased my performance level. It
helped me to guide the overall functionality which assisted to enhance the quality of service
measures will led me to have a significant growth and improvement in my skill set. This also
affected my individual thinking and enhances my ability to meet the operational and personal
growth objectives. I see through the effective evaluation of my growth measures and hence, it
will lead to carrying out of the suitable planning and action plan. All these measures supported a
positive rise in improvement of the action plans which helped in a significant rise in the
operations and thus, led to a proper improvement in my performance as manager. Developing a
personal development plan and increasing the operations is a very tedious and significant task
which helped me to improve my performance level and effectiveness as a manager (Brezina and
Piquero, 2017).
I looked after this self-learning measures as it helped in enhancing the overall functional
measures which led to improving my ability to perform my roles as a manager. As the self-
directed learning measure supported adult learning, it helped me to improve my performance as a
manager. I performed my assignment on practical and theoretical grounds and look after a
proper gaining in self-directed learning process. The conceptual adult learning not only helped in
enhancing my assumption and performing of dynamic grouping of operations. As the learning
process which is carried out included deep assessment of my personal skills, it led me to
practically improve my individual learning process. Other than this, I used the outcomes gained

from both, Social learning theory and experimental learning theory to identify my personal goals
as a manager. Apart form this, I also looked after the challenges and practical motivational
policies which will help me to improve my performance. It helped me to have a good motivation
level. It helped in effective developing of my mindset towards my performance as a manager.
All these measures that were taken in context will also affect my and my peers mindset. As the
personal development plan that were developed, helped me to identify my strengths and
weaknesses. I took suitable measures for improvement that will guide me to enhance my level of
effectiveness to perform my duties as a manager (Akers, 2017).
Other than this, I improved my scope and skill set using the personal learning program. It
gave me an independence to learn new skills and gain knowledge in different fields, improving
my personal performance. All these measures guided me to increase my effectiveness as a
manager within an enterprise.
Personal Reflective report from the Hackathon
An event was organised in London 2019 which is called as Hackathons also called as
hack day or hackfest or codefest in which various computer programmers and others are
involved in software development. Main goal of Hackathons is to provide the knowledge about
the software and hardware and it has special focus on the programming languages, operating
systems, etc. I have attended seven days of the event and during the event I learnt lot of things
which were new to me. I was able to gain knowledge about the software, hardware, operating
systems, types of systems etc. which can help me in building a career in the future. The event
started from 1 April till 29 April and out of 29 day I have attended 7 seven days of it and this
even took place in the various parts of London, UK. There were lots of people who were
involved in the event and I was accompanied with my colleagues from and were 5 in a group. I
attended the events which were based on different topics related to developing successful
business through Internet of Things, developing successful IT start-up, E-commerce, Digital
Marketing and also gained the knowledge about various operating systems, programming
languages, Application programming interface and about applications. My colleagues also
attended these events with me for 7 consecutive days on the various contemporary issues in the
business in current scenario (Thudt, 2018). At the end of the even a task was assigned to us to
develop a software project based upon on our learning and understanding abilities. As a result of

this event I was able to gain knowledge and skills and I also came to know that there are lots of
things which I still need to know like internet of things and use of various operating systems.
Before attending this event I was really excited as I knew this is the best opportunity for
me to improve my knowledge and skills related to the business and digital technology. My
feelings were high on the first of the event and I was nervous as it was the first that I was
attending this event. I was curious to know about the various things as there were lots of new
things which were introduced in the event. After the event was over, I felt that it was the best
opportunity for me to develop my skills and knowledge and this event was huge as lots of people
were involved in it from different countries and from different businesses. I think the event
benefited me in various ways as I was able to increase my knowledge and skills and came to
know about the concepts which were new for me which can be applied by me in the future.
There are certain things which went well and also created challenges for me but I was
focused and managed to attend the 7 days of event. During the event there were number of
activities which went well like on the first day of the event a basic knowledge was provided
about the hardware and software and I gained lot of knowledge about the software and hardware.
I also successfully gained the knowledge about the e-commerce and also cleared all of my doubts
about it. This was so, because I was familiar about e-commerce and various type of software and
hardware which are used in the business world. But, day by day the level of the event raised as
its themes changed every day and understanding those concepts was challenging for me. Some of
the concepts like Internet of things and how to developing successful IT start-ups as all the
concepts were not cleared (Robinson, 2015). Another thing which was challenging for me was
use of various social media marketing as I was not able to get the practical knowledge of making
use of social media marketing. This as so because I all these concepts were new for me and I
could not gain the knowledge and skills about various themes of the event. Also, lacked some
skills which made understanding these concepts difficult for me like I lacked proper
communication skills as I was not able to communicate effectively with my team members, I
lack understanding skills which made understanding the concepts difficult for me. I also faced
the time management skills as we were not able to complete task. I was also not able to take
proper decisions which was crucial for getting the task done. But I put all my efforts to gain
knowledge and acquire skills as much as possible which could help me in improving my
performance in the organisation and can help me to build my career in the future.

There were lots of things which I learnt from the event as this event was huge and lots of
new things and concepts about the technology and business were introduced for the first time in
the event. I learnt about various software which can be used in the business as there are new
software which can used that can enhance the performance of the organisation. I also learnt about
developing successful internet of things tech for a company which can be used within the
business to achieve the goals and objectives of the business. I also learnt that Internet of things is
a network of devices, vehicles, appliances etc. which is embedded with software, electronics and
connectivity which enable to connect and exchange the data for the company. I also learnt that
digital marketing has huge importance for the growth, expansion and profitability of a business. I
learnt that a product can be marketed easily through digital marketing and can cover huge market
base. I also learnt how to make use of IT and conduct business through e-commerce.
I had number of positive experiences from the even as I gained lots of knowledge and
skills from the event, because of this event I came to know about my abilities and skills which I
posses. I am fortunate that I got an opportunity to attend this event and task performed in the
even was fun and challenging (Cox, 2016). But there are some things which did not went well
like I faced lots of challenges in completing the task and I came to know that there are various
skills which I need to develop that could help to improve my future. If get an opportunity to
attend the Hackathon I will try to gain further knowledge and skills but for that I need to improve
my skills which I lacked in this event.
I need to gather the information about the various concepts like how Internet of things
can be practically implemented in the organisation and implementing the IT software in the
organisation which can enhance the performance of the organisation. I also should identify the
best marketing tool for the organisation which can help in improving the marketing strategy for
the organisation. I also need to develop my personal and professional skills which I lack and I
believe that it is important for me to improve these skills so that I can improve my performance
within the organisation. Improving my skill can help me in meeting my career objective and
goals in the future which can done by developing a performance development plan.
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded from the above report that reflective business portfolio can help an
individual to become more professional and creative in order to expand business skills,
knowledge and experiences. Present report also concludes that reflective business portfolio can

help the individual in providing the tangible proof for the skills and the abilities which are
demonstrated by the employee. It can help the employee demonstrate its skills, background,
accomplishments and various experiences. This report also concludes that business portfolio can
be are any specific position in the organisation. Also, there are various learning theories like
self-directed learning theory and mind-set, experiential learning theory and social learning
theories. With the help of social learning theory and individual can improve its behavioural skills
that can impact its performance within the organisation. Present report also concludes that an
individual can improve its skills and knowledge though experiences which it faces in its career. It
can be both positive and negative experience and can learn from them in order to improve its
performance and skills in the organisation. An individual can gain the knowledge, skills and
experience by taking the initiative without help of others. So, it can be said that these learning
theories can help to improve its skills, knowledge and experience by which the performance of
the individual is improved in the organisation. It can also be concluded that personal reflective
report can help an individual to express it feelings about the past events and experience which
can help in expressing the thoughts and understand the important aspects and to identify the
areas which needs improvements in the future. This report also concludes that reflection can help
an individual in building self awareness as it provides the areas to ask important questions which
can help in gaining the better understanding about the strengths and weaknesses and factors
driving them.
