Reflection
The current assignment is based on reflection about the reading and watching a video
which was based on the topic of Dental Ethics. It comprises of a detailed understanding and
information about the codes of ethics, beneficence of benefit to the patient, principles and moral
standards of ethics along with applying ethical principles and steps for solving ethical dilemmas.
Ethics forms a critical issue in dental offices as they are involved in treating and
resolving heath issues of patients thus, they must practises and have a ethical behaviour while
treating their patients. Beside this, many ethical dilemmas are also encountered in dentist office
which do not have quick or easy solution thus, application and utilisation of ethical principles
become more viable and critical in the dental office.
If the dentist asked to perform a duty that was not in scope of practises I would likely to
refuse or reject such proposal as it out of my regard for self determination along with it also lead
to breach of professional code of ethics. The request of a patient to change the date for insurance
because their insurance coverage was exercised is also not done by me as it is again an unethical
activity and lead to breach of ethical code of conduct veracity and regard of justice. If a patient
refuses to do X-rays I would like to develop and identify some better alternatives to solve this
dilemma which is both legal and fulfil ethical implication.
