INTRODUCTION Organisational behaviour refers to the study of individual performance and activity at the workplace. It is essential to identify how individual employee is working in the organisation and interacting with other employees. this investigates peoples emotion and behaviour, performance in a team, system and structure of organisation.Advantages of organizational behavior are, better customer service, cooperative team work, creativity and innovation, effective leadership, job performance.Organizationalbehaviorhelpsinimprovingperformanceofcompanyand productivity of employees is increased (Abolade, 2018). This helps in ethical behavior among staff and management. It is essential to provide good working environment to employees so that they can work effectively and efficiently. Tesco is a public limited company which was founded in the year 1919 by Jack Cohen. Its headquarter is situated in Welwyn Garden City, The Hertfordshire, England, UK. The company is providing good quality products to customers and earning profit. They are satisfying need of customers and providing services all over the world. The essay examines, role played by me in the organization i..e, HR manager, skills and knowledge required to work efficiently. There were some difficulties and find ways to overcome them. Theories such as, Henri Fayol functions of management, Theory of empowerment and Barker's notion of control through team work. The causes of difficulties is discussed. Changes which were implemented to help to overcome difficulties. MAIN BODY Description of work role and tasks Task and skills HR manager plays a crucial role in an organization because they are responsible for handling all the activities and managing work. Human resource manager is responsible for recruiting and selecting employees for the company who can work efficiently, training and development programsareorganized,performancemanagement,employeerelations,makingrulesand regulations which is to be followed by everyone (Arieli, Sagiv, and Roccas, 2020). I am working in the Tesco company as an HR manager and handling all the activities within the organization. I am recruiting and selecting candidates who are eligible and have necessary skills to complete work. I organized training sessions for new joiners and development programs for employees who need to improve their performance. I am measuring performance of employees by setting
targets. Evaluation is done to identify in which area development is required so that employees can work efficiently and complete work on time. I am responsible for making rules and regulations, policies and procedures so that employees can focus on their work. It is important to divide work among members as per their specialization so that they can complete work within the given time period. There are some skills which an HR manager should have so that goals and objectives can be achieved. Essential skills are, good communication, discretion and ethics, analytics, problem solving skill, flexibility, patience, negotiation. I am having good communication skill which helps me in influencing other people and motivating them to work efficiently. I am managing all the activities and make a structure in which roles and responsibilities of every person is mentioned. This helps in avoiding confusion misunderstanding among members and work can be done efficiently. I am having problem solving skill and this is beneficial for me as I am able to solve problems between employees. I try to solve problems and find creative solution so that goals and objectives of firm can be accomplished. Tesco is one of the fastest growing firm and it is my responsibility to make good plans so that targets can be achieved and more profit can be earned. I am having good decision taking skill which helps me in taking correct decision which is beneficial for growth and development of organization. It is essential to take right decision so that profit can be earned by firm. I am measuring performance of employees and giving them rewards as per their performance. This helps in motivating employees and boosting their confidence to work efficiently (Odor, 2018). I am dividing work among members and setting goals for them so that they can work efficiently and targets can be accomplished. It is essential to make plans after analyzing market situation because it helps in achieving targets. Market analysis is important because it helps in identifying factors that can affect performance of organization. So, I am conducting market analysis so that strengths and weakness, opportunity and threat can be identified and it helps in making better plans to earn profit. Difficulties face and ways to overcome them There are some difficulties which I faced while working in the company as people are recruited from different places and their culture and way of working is different. It was difficult for me to manage them because all employees are having different perspective and this creates confusion among employees. It is essential to make plans properly so that there will be no issue and all members can work effectively and efficiently. To overcome issue, I make rules and regulations as per need of people (Sanders, Snijders and Hallsworth, 2018). Safe and healthy working environment is provided to employees so that they can work efficiently and goals and objectives can be accomplished. Analysis of work role and tasks from theory HR manager plays a crucial role in an organization because they are managing all the activities and providing good working environment to employees so that goals and objectives can be accomplished. According to Henri Fayol there are five functions which help in managing all the activities in an organization and targets of firm can be accomplished. Planning is the first function and it is very important because if planning is not done properly then goals and objectives are not achieved. It is essential to make plans which is beneficial for growth and development of company. After making plans another function is to organize all the activities. Manager is responsible for organizing activities and dividing work among members as per plans so that work can be completed on time and it helps in achieving targets (TaĹźtan and Davoudi, 2017). It is essential to focus on need of employees and manage work properly so that there will be no issue and task can be finished on time. It is important to organize and manage work effectively so profit can be earned and employees can work according to the instructions given. After organizing all the activities another function is to command or give directions to employees so that they can work effectively and efficiently. It is essential to make structure in which roles and responsibilities of every person is clearly defined and targets can be accomplished. Another function is coordination means there should be proper communication and coordination among employees so that work can be completed on time (Woodand et.al.,2019). Last function is to control all the activities and manage work. Manager should ensure that all employees are working as per instruction given and plans are implemented properly. I face some difficulties in managing work because employees are not able to understand what work they have to do. So, with the help of management function I manage work and complete work on time. Theories of empowerment Theory of empowerment means theory or principles which is used by organization to motivate employees and to boost their confidence. For achieving goals and objectives of company it is essential to focus on need of employees and guide them so that work can be completed on time. It is the responsibility of manager of Tesco company to make plans and strategies so that need of employees can be satisfied and they can work efficiently. Theory of empowerment helps in encouraging people to gain the skills and knowledge which allow them to face challenges and make better plans so that targets can be accomplished (Wesselink, Blok and Ringersma, 2017). It is essential to apply theory of empowerment so that better ideas can be generated and it helps in achieving goals and objectives of company. It was difficult for me to motivate employees because they are having many needs and it is not easy to satisfy their needs. Theory of empowerment helps in increasing productivity of company and overall efficiency of firm can be
increased. It is important to boost confidence and morale of employees so that goals and objectives of Tesco company can be accomplished and profit can be generated. Empowering employees encourages members to learn new things and develop skills which help them in facing challenges and solution can be found. Managers are motivating employees and providing them guidance to complete task on time and to reduce chances of mistake. Theory of empowerment helps in increasing morale of workers, productivity and quality which is beneficial for achieving goals and objectives. To achieve targets it is essential to motivate employees. I apply this theory and boost morale of employees so that they can work efficiently and focus on achieving goals and objectives of firm. With the help of theory of empowerment, I encourage staff members to gain skills and enhance their knowledge by learning new things (Wong and Wong, 2017). This is helpful for them as they can face challenges and find creative solution of problem. Empowerment helps in increasing productivity and efficiency of firm and profit can be earned. For success of company, it is essential to motivate employees and proper instructions should be given so that there will be no issue and goals can be accomplished. Barker’s notion of control through teamwork Teamwork plays a crucial role in an organization because it helps in dividing work among members so that goals can be achieved. When there is work load then manager divide among members and make teams so that work can be completed on time and it helps in earning more profit. Barker’s notion of control through teamwork means to control all the activity properly and targets can be accomplished (Connolly and et.al., 2017). For success of organization, it is essential to divide work among members and discuss team goals. Teams are made and leader is made who is providing guidance or directions to focus on work and complete work efficiently. According to Barker’s notion of control, activities can be managed or controlled with the help of team work because when all the members are working properly and helping each other than work can be completed on time. Teamwork is beneficial for organization because it helps in dividing work and develop skills of employees. Working in a team generate great ideas and diverse perspectives which is beneficial for growth and development of firm. Team work shares work load and task is completed on time. When employees are working together then it helps in achieving goals and objectives & profit can be earned by firm. Organisational behaviour is beneficial for growth and development of organization and creates positive environment in market. It is essential to focus on need of customer and make plans better than competitors. Reflection has been discussed which includes, role of HR manager in an organization, skills required for good human resource manager, knowledge or capacities which is required to carry task. It is essential to make plans and strategies after analysing market situation so that goals and objectives can be accomplished. There are some difficulties and ways to overcome them has been described. Further, analysis is done which included different theories applied in the organisation. Henri Fayol five functions of management has been discussed which includes, planning, organising, command, coordination and direction.
