As a registered nurse in the geriatrics department, I have to provide health care services to
several adult and old people in a day. Our health care institution is supported by the Medicaid
initiative by the government, which is one of the main contributors to the income source of
health care professionals. According to Statista.com (2018), Medicaid has the largest share in
the total health care spending by the United States federal government, amount over 17% of
the total spending. Moreover, according to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
(CMS), in 2017, over 74 million people were enrolled with the Medicaid services, of which
60% were adult and old people.
In our healthcare facility, several old age people with low incomes come to access
health care services and are assisted by the health care professionals to take advantage of the
Medicaid insurance program. The patients aided by Medicaid show positive responses with
greater satisfaction regarding the health care services provided to them.
Reacting to Post 1
The idea of keeping track of all the medical supplies used on the patient and
organizing them in a register to bill the patient is an efficient technique. Moreover, the
condition of eliminating the health care settings for readmission cases of patients is an
effective strategy to ensure the best health care delivery at the very first attempt (Abdul-Aziz
et al., 2017).
Reacting to Post 2
The post highlights the benefit of keeping a fixed salary of healthcare professionals.
According to the nurse’s experience, such professionals are more attentive and focussed on
attending their patients. The post raises future implications of spreading the fixed & single-
payer system in the health care sector to improve the health outcomes of the patient (Fuchs,
2018).
