Introduction
The purpose of this report is to investigate the relationship among the organizations
within hospitality, tourism and event industries in Australia. Tourism, hospitality and event
businesses are the main frontline of the Australian economy that provides consumer products as
well as personal services to both international and domestic consumers. The sectors are affected
by the continual changes in the national as well as international consumer demands and their
expectations by global marketplace. The tourism, event and hospitality sector involve
restaurants, accommodation, tour operators, resorts, cultural tourism and so on. The markets
within tourism as well as hospitality including business travel, main events and education travel
offer potential benefit for the other sectors to promote this country and its goods and services.
Large number of businesses in hospitality, events and tourism are active in more than one
sectors. For instance, hotels require tourism for generating part of the business and the events
usually cooperate with tourism for promoting their location (Thakran & Verma, 2013). Driven
by the changes in the consumer trends and demography of foreign population within Australia,
the nature of tourism, hospitality and event is changing. The complexity of enterprise and
laborforce generally make up the sectors requirements that is to be understood by policymakers
for avoiding response to productivity (Nickson, 2013). The present study focuses on the present
operations of the hospitality, tourism and event businesses. The socio- cultural and
environmental trends impact on these sectors are explained in this report. Furthermore, strategies
adopted by the organizations for addressing these trends are also discussed in this study.
Current operations of the chosen enterprise
The organizations that are selected under this hospitality, tourism and event industry in
Australia are Echidna Walkabout, hotel Canberra and EMG event agency respectively. Echidna

Walkabout are the social enterprise tour and travel operator in Australia that provide wildlife
travel and tourism, educational travel and responsible travel to the tourists. The mission of this
tour operator is to assure free- living future of the Australian wildlife (Echidna Walkabout Tours,
2018). This enterprise believe that responsible wildlife tourism sector in Australia might help
Australians to value the wildlife as an asset with economic value. It employs the aboriginal
people as guides and visit aboriginal –run keeping places. It contributes to data collection of the
wildlife sightings that is offered to local people. They have shown the Australians significance of
native wildlife and offer education to these people regarding best way in protecting the
environment.
One of the biggest hotels under hospitality industry in Australia is Hyatt Hotel Canberra.
This hotel is situated in Canberra which is the national capital of Australia. Its current operations
include management and franchise of resort, vacation properties and luxury hotels (Hyatt.com,
2018). The purpose of this enterprise is to care for customers so that they can best informs its
decisions in business as well as growth strategy and is also intended to retain as well as attract
customers as well as build relationships with the tourists. The subsidiaries of this company
create, develop, manage, operate and offer services to the resorts and other locations. Their
mission is to deliver experiences to its guests and offer services based on their need.
EMG is the strategic as well as creative end- to end event management agency under the
event industry in Australia. Its current operations include all the aspects of the event for
connecting the dots as well as deliver in a big way (Services – EMG, 2018). This event agency
mainly focus on guest experience and ensure consistency of the theme, brand and message to the
customers. This organization develop vision which is mainly supported by creative strategy of
ensuring that the event is impactful and is targeted to appropriate persons. They focus on

event. However, the strategic consciousness of this agency provide us the direction in create the
event.
Interaction among the organizations within the tourism, event and hospitality sector
According to Morrison (2013), the hospitality industry is one of the vital service
providers for foreign travel and tourism sector. It involves each businesses that accommodate
tourists as well as travelers while travelling to other destinations. In fact, the business events
held by the event agency helps to attract majority of foreign and domestic visitors. When tourists
arrive at the final destination, their objective is to check into good hotels for proper
accommodation. As accommodation is the main component of package holidays, the tour
operators interact with the hotel managers to find the best accommodation for the tourists as per
their requirement. These tour operators have grip on the online bookings, leaving hotels in
finding new ways of luring travelers to the sites. The hospitality giant Hyatt organization draws
on to loyalty program for guiding deal seekers to book directly. In addition to this, Hyatt hotel
has been offering exclusive discount for the travel agencies so that they convince the tourists to
select this hotel. This in turn helps the Echidna tour operators to build good relationship with the
Hyatt hotel managers. The Echidna tour operators interact with the EMG event agency in order
to arrange some social events for the tourists. The tourists visiting the destination become
satisfied with these social events (NS Robinson & Getz, 2014). Thus in turn enhances loyalty of
the tourist and boost tourism. Besides this, the EMG event management offers several
opportunities to the tourists for spending time in effective way. Moreover, the hotel managers of
Hyatt also interact with the EMG event organizers in order to manage social activities including
recreational events, festivals in their hotels in order to attract large number of tourists. Overall,

and maximize profitability by interacting with each other.
Socio – cultural, economic and environmental trend in Australia
Social trend in Australia is structured based on ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics)
framework that identifies certain areas of population groups, social concern among the persons
and organizations within social environments. The current social trends in this country involves
rise in percentage of internet users, Australians have become highly active in social media and
increase in social usage on mobile (Thakran & Verma, 2013). In fact, the Australians follows
western culture that is derived from UK and influenced by Aboriginals. The economic trend in
Australia has been positive over the last few years. Despite current decrease in mining industry
in Australia, this economy has remained quite resilient as well as stable (Mok, Sparks &
Kadampully, 2013). Apart from this, unemployment rate and inflation rate also remained lower
level for the past few years. As per ABS statistics, this country has good air quality standards
owing to reduction of air pollution (Morrison & Pickering, 2013). Furthermore, the water quality
in this nation are quite good but the energy utilization has declined. In the cities, congestion has
remained huge concern and thus have huge affect on travel times in this country (Epstein, 2018).
Impact of these three trends on hospitality, event and tourism businesses
The present socio- cultural, economic and environmental trends in Australia have huge
impact on the hospitality, events and tourism businesses in Australia. Positive trend in socio-
cultural, environmental and economy of this country has led to improvement in business
operations of these three businesses. Improvement in air quality and rise in GDP growth and rise
in internet users brought about huge reform in these three industries (Dredge et al., 2013). The
businesses operating under these industries have attained huge revenue and maximized

profitability due to improvement in these three trends. Moreover, due to increasing
competitiveness among the host communities in Australia, all these sectors have been benefitting
by operating according to the present trends of socio- cultural, economic and environmental
trends in Australia (Van der Wagen & White,2018). Moreover, advancement of technology also
aid these business organizations under these the industries to improve their business operations
(Mok, Sparks & Kadampully, 2013).
Strategies implemented by the enterprises for addressing the trends
The strategies that are adopted by these three businesses for addressing the above-
mentioned trends are described below-
EMG event agency, Hyatt hotel and Echidna tour operators focus on revising their price
of products and service in order to attract large number of tourists from both domestic
and international
These three businesses also offers discounts to the tourists visiting to this country. This in
turn helped them to increase tourists and attain higher profit. As a result, this aided to
positively address the social, economic and environmental trends in Australia
The tour operators, event organizers and hotel managers also focuses on target market so
that they can address positive trends in businesses.
