OVERVIEW OF THE BURNABY HOSPITAL
• The Burnaby Hospital is considered as a
large community hospital and has been
serving customers for a couple of years.
• The hospital provides different forms of
healthcare services that includes surgical,
tertiary, obstetric, psychiatry and medical
facilities to different problems in relation to
patient care. The hospital also provides
emergency care services and it has been
further reported that the hospital
organization serves nearly 80,000 patients
on an annual basis.

PROJECT FOR RELOCATING THE BURNABY
HOSPITAL
• The government had reached to a
conclusion that it would be highly
expensive to renovate the Burnaby
Hospital.
• A new hospital should be built at the
corner of Canada Way and Willingdon.
• This would be highly needed for
delivering the best forms of healthcare
facilities to the patients and thus
developing better relationship with the
customers.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE
• Determining of the hospital site, surveying and preparing for the construction
work.
• Constructing the best form of infrastructure based on providing the best form
of healthcare facilities.
• Purchasing and installation of high quality medical equipment
• Procuring high quality hospital furnishings, office equipment and other non-
medical facilities.
• Designing the hospital infrastructure within the proper estimated budget and
within appropriate deadlines.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE
PROJECT TEAM
Team Members Roles and Responsibilities
Project Sponsors The Project Sponsors are at the responsibility of scrutinizing the requirements
of the entire project and look into the developmental aspects. They would
then be presenting the project for the relocation and construction of the
Burnaby Hospital in order to provide with financial help and progress through
the project based on the available resources.
Project Owners The project owners are mostly to be treated as the head of the business unit
who would be bearing the responsibility of the project including all the
successful implementation of the project and even the issues occurring.
Project Director The project director would be responsible for the management of the entire
project at a more strategic level where the project needs to be handled at a
much more perceived perception.
Project Manager The project Manager would be at the overall charge of the entire project
throughout the planning and the execution of the relocation and construction
of the project for Burnaby Hospital.
Contractors The general project Contractors are at the responsibility of the daily oversight
for the site of the construction for the Burnaby Hospital and at the same time,
would be responsible for the management of the people hired as the traders
and the vendors.
Project Management Team These would be the people who would have all the responsibilities of
conducting the progression of the project with individual roles to play and
handle the project as per the specific skills every individual team member is
capable of.

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
• Building of a new hospital at a new site situated at Willingdon and Canada Way
• Upgrading of hospital surroundings and supporting infrastructure such as
sewer, water, gas and electricity
• Purchasing of new medical equipment and installing them
• Purchasing of new furniture, office equipment such as computers and
advanced medical infrastructure
• Acquisition of construction site, choosing of the contractors for the supply of
goods and bringing them within the site.
