INTRODUCTION
It is important for students to maintain academic integrity during their time at any
educational institution. By following academic integrity students are able to make contributions
in their academic field and make personal and career advancements. The present is covers the
concept of academic integrity other related concepts such as academic concepts. The first section
of this report covers the topic of academic integrity. In addition to this academic integrity as
ethical systems is described in this report. Reasons behind academic misconduct, types of
academic misconduct and methods of preventing academic misconduct are provided in this
report. In the second section of this report, reflection on the experience of constructing a game on
academic integrity is provided in this report. Apart from this reflection on the skills gained in this
academic year is with focus on skills accentuate during the making of the game.

Discussion on the significance of academic integrity in higher education
Academic integrity is practiced by a student when they work with honesty, accountability,
fairness, trust and responsibility. Academic integrity is valued in most educational institutions
and is an important part of the students in western academia (Curtis and et. al., 2018).
Academic integrity as an ethical system
The concept of academic integrity has shifted and changes since it’s inception to become
more concerned with ethical aspects of higher education. The governing ethical principles for
higher education institutions and academic communities were used to focus on duty, power and
self-esteem. Upholding these valued even by dishonest and unfair means was the norm of
academic communities before. Now the concept of academic integrity has developed to shift
focus on the elements of honesty, responsibility, trust and fairness. The ethical focus of academic
integrity has increased from the past when it was using dishonest means to build status and
appearance of upstanding character was considered correct behavior. The current academic
world has adopted ethical elements into the concept of academics integrity (da Silva, 2020).
Educational institutions which follow academic integrity focus on ensuring that each student and
faculty member understand and adheres to the moral and ethical principles of academic integrity.
