For students who will be admitted into the university, their data is important to be
captured and stored in the school database. With the help of machine learning, using the year-old
data that is already available, the machines have been already trained on such data sets making it
easy when recording the information of the student who are about to be admitted into the
university (Lauritsen, Bøge, Andersen, & Albrechtslund, 2017).
Data like race and family income is not worthy being stored into the school system
simply because it will be of less important to the school. Race will promote racism which is
likely to reduce the standards of the school and capturing family income to me is not the right
decision to do because the data provided can be manipulated by the family as those are family
issues and none likes exposing them in any circumstance (Auld, 2018). For example, there are
families who are poor, but they have bright student and capturing family income will make these
students feel humiliated once they meet parents who drive big cars while escorting their children
to school. This will affect the student psychologically and lower student’s performance.
Also, parental education history data should not be captured during the time of selecting
the students to join the school. When the students know that the administration has got access
and knowledge of their parent’s education history, they may tend not to work hard because it
might remind them that they are like their parents as they share the same genes. There are some
parents who did not make to university level hence in the community they are considered failures
and it happens in the school that their education history is captured, the student might end up
with failing attitude and affect their performance in school yet they are bright in nature. For
example, if my parent got a bad grade in their high school life nowhere written that I will school
the same bad grade though this might affect students when they compare with other student’s
parents who scored good grades (Bruce, & Pham, 2019).
