The article is written by Jan Kietzmann who is an associate professor of innovation and entrepreneurship, Pierre Berthon who is a professor in marketing, information design and corporate communication. Their articles are published in a number of peer-reviewed journals and their work are considered credible. The article found that the three-dimensional printing technology is cost effective, it has also shown that it reduces pollution which is a major challenge faced in the world today, and the features produced through this technology are attractive to customers. However, it has led to production of fake manuals that are available easily for example manuals on how to make drugs. This posses a risk to humans. This article will be an excellent source for my report since it elaborates the field in which the technology is used and explain why organizations should adapt it. The authors found that the introduction of the three-dimensional printing in a monopoly structure of market helps to produce customized products hence capturing more consumers. This lead to increase in profits. In the competitive structure of market, it helps to lower the product prices for the customers through reducing the barriers of entry to the market which enables an organization to serve a wide market. This research was conducted by analyzing the established economic models which helped in developing four principles important at firm leveland assessed the impact of the technology at industry level. This article will be relevant in the report writing because it indicated the best market structure an organization can adapt to increase their profits. This will help the CEO in making the right decision.
